Starting Jan. 1, ITA Airways will return to flying between Rome and Tel Aviv, restarting the connection that had been suspended more than four months ago, in the middle of last June. The company initially announced its resumption from August 1 and then November 1, giving up each time because of the persistent conflict between Israel and Hamas. Now, with the reprieve declared a couple of weeks ago, it should be a good time.

From January 1, 2026, AZ-coded flights between Rome and Tel Aviv will be two per day: one departing at 9:15 a.m. 8and arriving at 1:35 p.m.) and the other at 10:50 p.m. (arriving at 3:10 a.m.); in the opposite direction, it will depart from Ben Gurion at 2:55 p.m. and 5:15 a.m., arriving at Fiumicino at 5:40 p.m. and 8:05 a.m. respectively.
Both frequencies will be 'covered' with the three-class Airbus A321neo with 12 lie-flat seats in Business (1-1), 12 in Premium Economy (2-2) and 141 in Economy (3-3).

ITA is, of course, not the only airline with which people will be able to fly between Italy and Israel in 2026. Indeed, there are companies that still do so and, unlike the main Italian carrier, have suspended connections between the two countries only for very short periods since the conflict in the region flared up after Oct. 7, 2023.

Among them is Israel's flag carrier, El Al, which has been a de facto 'lifeline' for the Israelis and only at times of maximum intensity of military operations (as in the case of rockets fired on the country from Iran) has suspended all its flights, including those to Italy.
El Al flies from Rome twice a day with Boeing 737-900ER, twice a day from Milan with Boeing 737-800, and three times a week from Venice with Boeing 737-800.

The second Israeli carrier, Israir, takes off from Rome Fiumicino 6 times a week.

Finally, there is Wizz Air, which flies Five times a week from Rome Fiumicino and four times a week from Milan Malpensa with Airbus A321neo in addition to once a week from Naples with Airbus A320.
Easyjet will resume flights from Milan Malpensa at the beginning of Summer 2026, on March 31, with three weekly frequencies.
