Emirates is preparing a major step change on in-flight connectivity: all Boeing 777s and Airbus A380s in service will be equipped with Starlink, with free connection for all passengers.
In this article:
The program will cover 232 aircraft by mid-2027, with installations already begun and a planned pace of about 14 aircraft per month. Emirates thus joins other companies that have already adopted Starlink.

The first 777 has already been shown at the Dubai Airshow
The first modified aircraft is the Boeing 777-300ER A6-EPF, unveiled at the Dubai Airshow with the Starlink system already operational on the ground. After the event is over, the aircraft will immediately return to commercial flights: the official debut is set for today, November 23, 2025.
A380s with three antennas, a first

The rollout will continue with the A380 from early 2026. On this model Emirates will install three Starlink antennas, unique in the industry, while the 777s will use two. The configuration increases coverage and capacity, a useful element on higher-density routes.
What passengers will be able to do

Starlink will allow streaming, video calling, gaming and cloud work with performance closer to that on the ground. Connectivity will be available on both personal devices and on-board screens, which can be used in parallel.

A significant new development is the arrival of the Live TV via Starlink: first on personal devices and Then, from December 2025, also on seatback screens. Access will be immediate, without registration or enrollment in Skywards.
A choice that aims for product uniformity
The Starlink program is part of the broader Emirates fleet upgrade plan, which includes the retrofit of nearly 220 aircraft and 76 aircraft already refurbished with new cabins and updated entertainment systems.

The stated goal is to reduce differences between aircraft and provide a consistent experience on major long-haul routes.
Conclusion
With the adoption of Free Starlink on every 777 and A380, Emirates is introducing a concrete change for long-distance flyers. The first aircraft is ready, installations are scheduled with defined timelines, and the service, if it works as announced, will represent a tangible step forward in in-flight connectivity.
