ITA Airways plans to dispose of Airbus A330-200s 'inherited' from Alitalia surely by March 29, 2026, the day when IATA's Summer 2026 will open.
In this article:
In the Italian carrier's operations, the 330ceo, which still is operating occasional rotations between Rome and New York as well as between Rome and Delhi and is connecting Rome's airport with Boston on a daily basis, no longer appears, replaced by the new A330-900s.

Business Classes operated by ITA on long haul. (so not counting the one mounted on the A321neo that are used on medium range) will thus drop from three to two, provided of course that A330-900 deliveries, which have been at a standstill for 15 months, resume and that therefore Italy's largest airline can actually do without the A330-200s.
In Summer 2026, there will be no change as far as long-haul networks are concerned from the Summer that has just ended, when considering Malé and Mauritius seasonal destinations of Winter 2025-2026 that will end in April, 'overflowing' for a few days just into the summer season. A total of fourteen destinations will be served from Rome Fiumicino: eight in North America, three in South America, and three in Asia.
Taking the lion's share will be the Business mounted on A330-900s: 30 lie-flat seats Thompson Vantage XL in 1-2-1 configuration on 8 rows with a 21-inch (53cm) seat, which converts into a 78-inch (193cm) bed and is equipped with a 17.3-inch 4K IFE screen with bluetooth system for audio.
In Summer 2026, this Business Class will be available on the three daily flights between Rome Fiumicino and New York JFK, on the two daily connections (but only for part of Summer) towards St. Paul's and on daily ones for Boston, Washington, Delhi, Rio de Janeiro, Chicago, Miami, Toronto, San Francisco, and Bangkok.
The six Airbus A350-900s that make up the rest of ITA's long-haul fleet. Instead, they will fly up to twice a day to Buenos Aires and once a day to Los Angeles and Tokyo Haneda.

On the A350s, the Business Class cabin has 33 Collins Aerospace Super Diamond seats. in 1-2-1 configurations that transform into 198-centimeter-long beds with a seat width of 21 inches (53cm) and a 17-inch IFE screen.
