MilleMiglia class action, last days before ruling: Trenitalia will "pay" the bill after buying the program
A final ruling on the class action lawsuit, one of the first in Italy, brought by [...]

A final ruling on the class action is scheduled for Friday, November 14., one of the first in Italy, filed by a group of about 200 "die-hard" MilleMiglia users vs. Alitalia Loyalty to have the damage suffered by the end of the loyalty program, a consequence of the bankruptcy of the Italian company and the birth of ITA Airways.
The facts
In this article:

As is well known, Alitalia was allowed to go bankrupt, and with the company, the MilleMiglia loyalty program had also ended up on an (almost) dead track.

A group of die-hard users had banded together and initiated a class action Which, after five hearings, is set this week to write the final chapter of MilleMiglia, less than two months after the ultimate death of the program.

Kicking off the lawsuit had been Marco Di Martino and now we have reached the final stages after a process that has lasted more than three years.
Class action MilleMiglia

Also lengthening the time was the fact that, in recent years, the MilleMiglia (now MyMiglia) program has changed hands.: from Alitalia Loyalty to Trenitalia. The paradox is just that: not only did Trenitalia buy the program without in fact ever exploiting it, but may be forced to pay the class action bill as well.

On the one hand, the plaintiffs' initial request was to enhance MilleMiglia points 0.020 cents each, against a bid that started at 0.0075 and then rose to 0.0095. While individually talking about cents and thousandths may seem small, suffice it to say that Among the class action adherents are diehards who have also seen more than 2 million miles vanish into thin air, which in the worst case scenario could be worth nearly 20 thousand euros.
The epilogue
However it will turn out, will be a historic event: one of the first Italian class actions and, by far, the first regarding points in a loyalty program, which could see recognition of the harm of serial accumulators who, through the use of credit cards, Payback point collections, and a few flights, had found themselves with significant balances.
We shall see.
