The hardware is top class, the software much less so: review DoubleTree Hilton Florence Metropole

I had been missing from Florence for a couple of years., or maybe even a little more.
In this article:
Since my last visit, Hilton facilities in the city have more than doubled. The opportunity to return to Dante's city was the 2025 edition of the BTO.

As a guest of the festival, I stayed one night at theAnglo American Curio Collection always from the Hilton family, but since I arrived the night before the event I slept (at my own expense) in this hotel always Hilton, but it teaches DoubleTree, also because. The Garden Inn I had already reviewed.
Location

We are located in a decentralized area, but convenient for those arriving by car from the highway and for those who want to sleep near the airport, certainly not too close, but not far either.
The hotel offers a Free shuttle to the city center and S.M. Novella station so it's also perfect for those without transportation, and also the columns if you're traveling by electric.
Reservation
Needless to say. I booked via app and a Hilton4Business rate, contrary to what one might expect these rates in addition to giving away a bunch of extra points, often offers savings of a few euros and a much more flexible rate than those for everyone.
Check-in
I arrived at the hotel while a business meeting was in progress, but the reception desk was virtually deserted.

The attendant barely looked up from his PC. Just enough to say good evening and take my ID. There was no interaction except when he gave me the cookie, symbol of the DT chain, and handed me the room key.
He didn't even tell me where the room was, the room number let alone the "thank you for your loyalty" was probably the coldest and not at all Hilton check-in I've ever done in my life.
Suite

Reached the 15th floor as soon as the door opened. I saw the words Executive Lounge, a DoubleTree with lounge? WOW

Not far away was my room (1509) and I opened the door and found myself in a suite. DOUBLE WOW. The surprise also stems from the fact that the receptionist had not spoiled anything for me.

The ambiance is fresh, you can sense that although the hotel is "old" the renovations have been done recently. Of course we are in a DT so the room is not luxurious and, given the space, also a tad bare.

The entrance hall leads to the living area, walk-in closet and from there to the bathroom.

And, from both of these rooms, to the actual bedroom.
In the sitting room there is a desk, a sofa, which probably also becomes a bed, and a mega screen.
There is also a bar cabinet, with a mini-bar (empty), Nespresso's Vertuo coffee machine (first time I have found this type of product in a hotel room), and the kettle.

Nice that there is also a snack and drink menu, too bad there is nothing on the list. In addition to this, there were not the 2 bottles of water that, from the specifications and benefits, are provided for those with Hilton Honors status.

The bathroom is huge and the tub is really nice. The shower is big and the separate toilet/bidet area, really good job.
The room was nice, the bed big, the mattress comfortable even without it is a real topper. Of course, there is a big screen here as well.

The only flaw in the room is the windows, probably the only element that remained original compared to the openness of the structure: Poor soundproofing with respect to outside noise.
The structure

The hotel was renovated during 2024 and you can see that it is cool and modern, it is a 15-story tower over 55 meters high with more than 210 rooms and 4 suites, all on the top floor.

The framework is still that of the old Hilton Florence Metropole, in fact before it was turned into a DT was the Florence Hilton Hotel.
The ground floor houses the reception area, a tad sacrificed. A small pantry and a lounging area. Then there is a bar here and one of the hotel's two restaurants and a lounge area.
On the second floor is the main restaurant, the one where breakfast is served.
The wellness area
On the -1 floor is the real gem of this facility., a small wellness area.
There is a jacuzzi and sauna area and a few loungers, certainly not able to accommodate all the guests in the more than 200 rooms, but I doubt that they could all decide to go for a dip together.
There is also a small gymnasium, all made in Italy, and again the same point made about the pool applies, but it is there and it is accessible h24.
The lounge
I don't remember finding a lounge in a DoubleTree, and the beauty of being Diamond is precisely that you can use these rooms for free.
This is not just a lounge, but A rooftop lounge complete with a rooftop terrace.
It is not large, offering no real dining, but there was lasagna and a roast as a hot offering, as well as cold cuts, rice salad, and some snacks, absolutely not bad. It's just too bad it closes at 8 p.m.
Breakfast
The breakfast room is bright; perhaps it has the shortcoming of being a tad cold.
The offerings are average, nothing more or less from what is logical to expect from a hotel of this sign.
In conclusion

At the level of structure, services, location and design nothing to say, I would definitely go back. The lounge, pool, and free shuttle are a not inconsiderable plus. There are several shortcomings, however, regarding the Hilton software, way too many. No empathy at check-in, no information to the guest, zero explanation, no water bottle in the room, too bad. It's also true, though, that how you stay matters, and I had a good time here.

Pro
- Rooftop lounge
- Pool
Against
- Human heat
