Egyptair puts another building block in its European expansion plan and chooses Venice as its new gateway to Egypt. From June 29, 2026, in fact, the Egyptian flag carrier will open the connection Venice - Cairo, initially twice a week (Mondays and Fridays).
In this article:
The flight will be operated with one of the new planes coming to the Egyptair fleet in the coming months, between Boeing and Airbus-a clear signal of the desire to modernize the entire operation and strengthen the intercontinental network with more efficient and competitive machines.

The choice of Venice is not random: the Northeastern Italy remains one of the country's most dynamic areas, both in terms of tourism and business travel, and Marco Polo is rapidly consolidating its role as a natural hub for connections to the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East and Africa.
The new route brings two iconic cities into dialogue. On the one hand Venice, a UNESCO heritage site and one of the strongest tourist hubs in Europe. On the other Cairo, gateway to the wonders of Egypt, a city in full swing and a connecting point to the entire African continent.

And it is precisely on this aspect that SAVE, the company that manages the Venetian airport, is betting heavily: in the last twelve months, traffic to Africa has grown by 16%, and the Cairo hub is an increasingly attractive hub for those traveling to the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and emerging African destinations.
For Egyptair, this is a strategic move.
"The opening of the Venice-Cairo route is an important step in strengthening our presence in Europe and offering Italian travelers direct access to the Egyptian capital," said Salah Tawfik, General Manager Italy and Malta of Egyptair.
"We are grateful to SAVE for their support. We look forward to welcoming passengers on our new planes."
From the SAVE side comes equally obvious enthusiasm:
"We are especially proud to welcome Egyptair's new connection," says Camillo Bozzolo, Aviation Development Director of the SAVE Group.
"Cairo provides excellent connections over all of Africa, the continent with the highest growth over the past year. It is a route that benefits business, tourism and VFR flows in our area."
