First ITA Airways plane in Star Alliance livery landed in Rome: the dawn of the new "world" is getting closer

The first plane of ITA Airways, the one that christened the company, had a special livery: it said. BORN IN 2021, a machine that had marked the transition from Alitalia a ITA Airways.

Today that livery no longer exists, not because AZ has decided to retire theEI-EIB, a sprightly 15-year-old still in his prime, but why from Ostrava, to the 19.40, landed at Rome Fiumicino with his new uniform, namely that of Star Alliance.

Among the requirements that each company must meet within the alliance founded by, among others Lufthansa, there is to have at least two aircraft in official livery: one at wide fuselage and one to narrow fuselage.

What's missing for ITA's official entry into Star Alliance

In small steps, the journey begun at the beginning of the 2025: first the exit from SkyTeam, then the bureaucratic work of sealing all the agreements with other companies.

In the meantime, the passage of the loyalty program: the "end" of Flying has as its expiration date the March 30 and, as we had written in the past few months, it is likely that the next day the entry into the Star Alliance.

The choice of Born in 2021

The choice of aircraft to be repainted in the new livery fell on theairplane symbol, but also on one of the easiest to repaint in both time and cost. Putting a white uniform over that blue Savoy would have forced much more spending both in terms of cost and time.

Instead, theEI-EIB remained stationary less than two weeks and, probably, by tomorrow January 28 will begin to turn for the usual rotations of short and medium range.

In conclusion

Now all that is missing is theofficial announcement with the entry of ITA Airways in Star Alliance. It is a matter of days and then everyone will have to get used to new partners, new hubs, new rules and especially (finally) to a real prize ticket.
