Like a bolt out of the blue: ITA Airways cancels Rome-Bangkok flight

In the last 24h I have been literally inundated with messages from users who have received an email from ITA Airways informing about the cancellation of the flight to/from Bangkok.
In this article:

Not an impromptu deletion, but just a suspension of the flight, the only direct connection between Rome and Thailand operated by ITA Airways. The news is really unexpected, since the flight had been "promoted" to daily last November 1 and, to our knowledge, has always performed well in terms of fill rate.
TFC's editorial staff asked the company for clarification., who explained in a note that the two-month stoppage was part of the plan. (ed remains to be seen if it was planned, because they sold tickets)
In the messages we are getting from the many readers who have experienced cancellations, there are not only passengers departing from Italy, but also several passengers who were supposed to fly in the opposite direction.

Contradictory responses received by passengers involved in the cancellations by the ITA call center. In some cases there is talk of a suspension of the route between April and the end of June, and in others of a permanent cancellation of the route.
In fact the flight does not appear to be bookable between late April and early July, already now as next summer, however, it will not be daily but three times a week,
The reasons could be due to to the need to do maintenance on some machines: ITA flies A330/900neo to BKK and closing the route in the spring period might serve to facilitate rotation on other routes.
Having no other connections to Thailand or even in neighboring areas, possible re-routings come through other carriers only, while, again according to the readers involved, call centers would push passengers to cancel and rebook on their own.

The notice does not obligate the company to any compensation, but the discomfort of many users is that those who booked by taking advantage of promo fares and discount codes to travel in the spring period find themselves unable to travel at discounted rates.
The advice of the Barbone in these cases is to precisely ask the company for re-routing with other carriers.
