The whole thing could be summarized as follows: it begins a new chapter for the development of theSalerno - Amalfi Coast Airport and the Cilento region. Aeroitalia e GESAC, in fact, they announced a partnership whose goal is strengthen e diversify the offer of links from the Campania airport, considered a privileged gateway to Cilento and the entire region.

The agreement comes in a delicate phase for the 2026 planning of the Amalfi Coast airport: after a first year judged positive and characterized by good traffic levels (as well as strong media attention), there had been signs of a slowdown, with a reduction in operations by some low-cost airlines and the resulting risk of a contraction of connectivity.
Instead, the structured entry of Aeroitalia, with a stable base of operations, aims to ensure continuity and development at the airport.
Connections to 4 destinations
Aeroitalia not only will base an aircraft in Salerno but will also offer well 19 weekly frequencies to 4 destinations, such as Genoa, Milan-Malpensa, Turin e Trieste. The flights - active from May 22 next year - will be operated with the Embraer 190 configured with a single class, economy, consisting of 100 seats. The focus? Business traffic and land development

According to the CEO of Aeroitalia, Gaetano Intrieri, Campania represents an area of great tourism and cultural value, with a significant potential both on the domestic and international fronts. The partnership with GESAC is part of the carrier's growth strategy, geared toward connecting areas of Italian excellence with major economic hubs and creating new opportunities for tourism and the local economy. The company also anticipated its intention to enrich the network with new international destinations leisure particularly in demand in the market.

For his part, the CEO of GESAC, Roberto Barbieri, highlighted the joint work to restore momentum to the Salerno airport and create conditions for a stable resumption of scheduled flights, with a predominantly business vocation. At the same time, discussions are continuing with institutions to accelerate the strengthening of access infrastructures and start the path aimed at the abolition of the municipal surtax, a measure already adopted in several Italian airports with traffic of less than one million passengers per year and considered decisive in strengthening the attractiveness and competitiveness of Campania's second airport.
Possible summer changes and new international routes
Keep in mind that in view of the inclusion of new international routes, Between July 1 and August 30, flights may be subject to temporary changes; any changes to the program will be communicated by the company.
For the Salerno Amalfi Coast and Cilento Airport, however, the partnership with Aeroitalia represents a strategic step: The goal is to avoid downsizing of operations and build a solid base for traffic growth in the coming years, in a competitive environment that certainly requires continuity and adequate frequencies but also a balance between business and tourist demand.
