For the past couple of days there has been a small (but very real) revolution for those who use the Upgrade Award: participants in Miles & More can Put themselves on the online waiting list directly from your account, without having to call the Service Center again (when the waitlist is available).
In this article:
The new feature is available for flights operated by: Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS, Basically, if there is an upgrade waitlist for your reservation, you no longer have to go through the service: you manage it yourself with just a few clicks.

It's not rivouzionary news, but longtime Miles&;pre frequent flyers know this all too well: the "boring" part of using upgrades via miles/eVoucher knows: it's often not deciding if do so, but have to call and get stuck between times and operators. Here, however, we get straight to the point: self-service, all under "your reservations." Of course there then remains the very small detail of availability, but already being able to do everything independently is a great thing.
How it works (in 30 seconds)
- Sign in to your Miles & More account
- Go Up "Active Reservations / Current Bookings"
- If available, choose the option for get on the waiting list for the Upgrade Award
- If the upgrade is confirmed to a higher class, you receive a notification
Did you get the card with the Status Match? calms the enthusiasm
Since ITA reservations are already visible and manageable within the app (at least itinerary/booking management side), the hope is that this new "upgrade waitlist in autonomy" can extend soon to ITA flights as well: would be the perfect piece to make the experience truly integrated, especially for those who frequently fly between Italy and Europe on mixed tickets.

At the moment, however, I would remind you that if you are FTL or Senator because of the Status Match campaign, you are not eligible to receive eVouchers, so fly first, and then when you've earned your stripes in the field, learn how to use them.
