People often criticize (not wrongly) the world of large American chains: Dated hotels, "lived-in" rooms, renovations put off indefinitely.

It is a theme that It also comes back in my reviews, when I happen to recount facilities that could use a serious refresh, not the usual cosmetic makeover. It needs to be said, though: Between new hotels and major renovations, Hilton never stops. And the beginning of 2026 is there to prove it, with a flurry of openings around the world and the refresh of some historic icons.
We had already done a focus on luxury hotels. most important coming up this year, Hilton now focuses on all the other news.
New openings

The luxury debut that makes noise: Waldorf Astoria Rabat Salé. Expected for beginning 2026, will be inside the Mohammed VI Tower and will have 55 rooms and suites. In the package: two specialty restaurants, the classic Peacock Alley, spa, meeting spaces, pool restaurant and double pool (also infinity). Translated: a "compact" Waldorf, but with everything you expect from the brand.
Lifestyle and new squares: Motto by Hilton Recife and Slohh by Roach Bengaluru, Curio Collection by Hilton
- Brazil: a February 2026 comes the first Motto in the country, with 132 rooms, coworking and rooftop bar, a stone's throw from the historic center ("Marco Zero" area).
- India: a March 2026 debuts the group's first "lifestyle" facility in the country, under Curio Collection, with a setting designed to "slow down" while remaining in the heart of Bengaluru's IT corridor.
Spark by Hilton Makkah Aziziyah: the "smart" brand lands in the Middle East Here the message is crystal clear: Hilton wants to bring his product premium economy even where demand is huge and constant. Expected opening February 2026, 329 rooms, breakfast included and rooms dedicated to prayer, with convenient access toward the Grand Mosque.
Time accelerates: well-being and "business + leisure" pace
The Tempo by Hilton brand continues to expand its U.S. presence with three openings between January and March:
- Time by Hilton Nashville Midtown (January 2026, 161 rooms): rooms designed "wellness first" with the areas Power Up / Power Down.
- Tempo by Hilton San Diego Del Mar (February 2026, 127 rooms): focus on oversize bathroom, Apotheke products, Bluetooth mirror, "Moonsong" dining concept, and major gym.
- Time by Hilton Savannah Historic District (March 2026): rooftop bars and food & coffee partnerships in keeping with the Tempo mood.
Curio Collection: boutiques "with character" in the right places
If you like the idea of a hotel with identity (and not the usual copy-paste), interesting names are popping up in the release:
- The Derby London City, Curio Collection by Hilton (February 2026, 234 rooms): in the financial district, with design details related to banking history (and the "Treasury Wall" with surprises for some guests).
- The Monarch San Antonio, Curio Collection by Hilton (March 2026, 200 rooms): lots of greenery, rooftop restaurant and 15,000+ sq ft Of event spaces.
- Elika Cave Suites Cappadocia, Curio Collection by Hilton (March 2026, 36 rooms): UNESCO location, "experiential" vibe, spa and multiple pools.
Other openings that can become "hot picks" for us travelers
- The Westerly at Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino (February 2026): new oceanfront tower with 161 rooms, rooftop on the 10th floor and also adults-only swim-up options.
- Hilton Istanbul Airport (March 2026, 485 rooms): first Hilton inside Istanbul Airport, a perfect solution for long layovers and connecting flights.
- Hilton Miami Beach (March 2026): two rooftop pools and "social" common spaces, a stone's throw from the Convention Center.
- Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort (March 2026, 251 rooms): resort surrounded by nature with a very "serious" wellness menu (outdoor sauna, plunge pools, salt room).
- Home2 Suites by Hilton American Canyon Napa Valley (March 2026): convenient base at the entrance to Napa Valley, with suite and breakfast included (and yes, pet-friendly).
- Hampton by Hilton Ben Guerir (January 2026): classic Hampton "no surprises" (in a good way) with hot breakfast included, pool and convenient location.
Renovations: when the refresh is really "property-wide"
Here Hilton touches on two important addresses, the kind that often end up in the crosshairs when it comes to somewhat tired historic structures:

- Hilton Washington DC Capitol Hill: work closing with scheduled end spring 2026. Restyling of rooms and common areas, new F&B concepts and technology upgrades, plus updated event spaces (20,000 sq ft) and redesigned fitness.
- Hilton Istanbul Bosphorus: renovation expected in the 2026 (indication: spring 2026), with lobby lounge/terrace, jazz bar, dining, executive lounge, and one of the largest outdoor swimming pools in the city.
And in the "refresh" package there is also luxury:
- Waldorf Astoria Chicago: spa and wellness being upgraded, with expected completion February 2026.
- Hilton Cleveland Downtown: total renovation already completed in Q4 2025, with redone rooms and new coffee/bar and lobby areas.
In conclusion
Because it is proof that while you keep finding hotels "carpeted in 2008," there are also those who is really investing: new openings in strategic markets, brands expanding (Tempo and Spark above all), and renovations that are not a coat of paint.
