Virgin Atlantic continues to rewrite the rules of loyalty and does so with High Five, a new initiative of the program Flying Club designed to reward loyalty over time, regardless of status or annual spending.
In this article:
The principle is as simple as it is revolutionary: It's enough to have flown Virgin Atlantic in five different years., consecutive or not, to receive a concrete award.
You don't need to be Gold, you don't need to grind out miles every month-it only matters to come back on board over the years.
12,000 Virgin Points for all (and an extra bonus for Red)
As of January 2026, all Flying Club members - Red, Silver and Gold - who reach the five-year threshold will receive 12,000 Virgin Points, which can be used for award flights or vacations. For members Red there is also an additional incentive: A permanent bonus of 10% points on all future flights, a nice way to make the status base definitely more interesting.
To give an idea of the value, 12,000 Virgin Points is enough for an A/R Saver award flight between London and New York in economy, while for Premium it starts at 16,500 points.
Retroactive counting from 2021: premiums coming as early as launch
The real treat? Flights are counted retroactively from January 1, 2021. This means that Tens of thousands of Flying Club members will receive the award already at launch, without having to wait for new flights. In my case I am at 3 (2022, 2023,2024), and this year I am planning a flight that will bring me one leg away from receiving the gift.
The points will be automatically credited on eligible accounts and, from the beginning of 2026, it will be possible to Monitor progress directly from the Virgin Atlantic app.
More flexibility, more value over time
Virgin points never expire and can be spent not only with Virgin Atlantic, but also with Delta Air Lines and with partners in the ecosystem Virgin Red.
Those who use a Household Account may also Add up multiple 12,000-point awards earned in the same year, making the milestone even more attractive to families and couples.
A coherent (and very smart) strategy
High Five does not come by accident: it fits into a long-term strategy that has already seen Virgin Atlantic introduce Award flights valid for status, points without expiration e Unlimited availability of award seats in 2024.
As Anthony Woodman, Vice President Flying Club & CRM, explained, the goal is clear: Rewarding those who choose Virgin Atlantic when they can, even without flying often. A philosophy that speaks primarily to the leisure world, but makes the Flying Club program increasingly inclusive and, above all, different from the competition.
In short: if you've boarded Virgin Atlantic at least once in recent years, you may have a surprise coming your way. And this time, loyalty is not just measured in miles. ✈️
