It has always been one of my favorite lounges. Not only because it is probably One of the most beautiful waiting rooms in the world, but also because it remains one of the hardest ever to live, accomplice to a very restrictive access policy despite Virgin Atlantic being part of the SkyTeam universe.
In this article:
And now, for those who already consider it an absolute benchmark, comes news that makes it even more interesting: London Heathrow's clubhouse gets a makeover. and this is only the first step in a broader plan of renewal.
Virgin Atlantic has indeed announced the completion of the first phase of the Heathrow Clubhouse redesign., the space reserved for Upper Class passengers, introducing a number of new features designed to make the pre-flight experience even more premium.
Among the most visible interventions are. A new cinema area, new work pods, a VIP Royal Box and a completely redesigned Gallery, aiming to combine contemporary design, high comfort and a more relaxing atmosphere before departure.

One of the most scenic elements is definitely the new Royal Box, an invitation-only space that Virgin describes as "the best seats in the house." It is a kind of VIP lounge in the VIP lounge, with unobstructed runway views and an aesthetic strongly linked to the Virgin world, including dominant red, pop references, and details built to surprise. Taking center stage is the so-called "Cabinet of Curiosities", a tailor-made table designed to offer small special moments, including desserts, champagne and exclusive finds.

There is also no shortage of attention to those who, even in the lounge, need to work. The new Studio work pods, called The Townhouse e The Manor, are a tribute to the history of Virgin Records and are designed to give passengers a space that is private, functional, and also very photogenic. There are built-in desks, power outlets, studio-inspired artwork, and even classic "on air" signs that light up when the station is occupied.

Also the Gallery, which has always been one of the most desirable areas of the Clubhouse due to its panoramic view of the runway, has been completely redesigned. Virgin explains that it has been redesigned to make better use of space and allow more guests to enjoy what remains one of the most iconic areas of the lounge. The new design is inspired by London, with subtle nods to city transportation, details that reference the red tails of Virgin planes, and references to Vivienne Westwood's signature uniforms. In addition, the space features commissioned works by British and London-based artists, including a piece made from copies of the in-flight magazine Vera now withdrawn.

Among the most interesting new features is then the new version of the Cinema, which has always been one of the most beloved corners of the Clubhouse. It has now been transformed into a warmer, more intimate and contemporary room, inspired by London members' clubs and private screening rooms in Soho. Improved lighting, acoustic panels, upgraded seating, built-in charging points, TV access, and Bluetooth headphones-all are designed to provide a space where you can truly disconnect before your flight.

The real breakthrough, however, is perhaps the one related to welfare. Until the May 31, 2026, guests can try one of three free Somadome, immersive capsules dedicated to meditation, therapeutic light and mental relaxation, with self-guided sessions of about 20 minutes.

Alongside this, Virgin Atlantic has also activated a partnership with Secret Spa, which until the April 30, 2026 will bring to the lounge a selection of express treatments such as massages, mini facials, manicures and other beauty services, with products from OSKIA, OPI and K-beauty brands also chosen to celebrate the airline's new connection to Seoul.

Explaining the philosophy behind this investment was Juha Jaervinen, chief customer officer, Virgin Atlantic, who called the Clubhouse "an iconic part of the Virgin Atlantic experience" and anticipated that this redesign is only the beginning.
Indeed, in the company's plans are more news coming soon, including new ways to enhance the plane spotting experience from the lounge's rooftop terrace.
In a nutshell, Virgin did not simply refresh an already beautiful lounge: has chosen to make it even more consistent with its DNA, focusing on exclusivity, wellness, design and entertainment. And for those who have been lucky enough to enter it at least once, the feeling is one: if it was already one of the best lounges on the planet before, now it raises the bar even higher.
