Singapore-New York, the world's longest flight: the review
To date, the one between Singapore e New York-JFK is the longest flight in the world: the distance separating the two airports is 15,349 km, a full 5 km longer than the flight, also from Singapore, that lands in Newark, the Big Apple's other stopover. The official flight duration is a little less than 19h, but often the winds "push" the plane and shorten the flight time even to less than 18h; what matters, however, is the distance flown, which never changes. I have flown in business class on theAirbus A350ULR (Ultra Long Range) that Singapore Airlines, the only airline in the world, uses for this type of connection: set up with only 2 classes, business and premium economy, it carries fewer passengers than a Ryanair B737. I paid for this ticket with the Krisflyer points I got by flying, accumulating bonuses on the Singapore loyalty program card and transferring from membership rewards.
