Initially planned for fall 2020 but, after the well-known vicissitudes, the date slipped by a couple of months to January 2021. In fact, it will be presented next Friday, January 15, the new airline Wizz Air based in Abu Dhabi..
In this article:
Created through Wizz's agreement with partner Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company, the new company aims to conquer a thriving market such as the Middle East, also winking at Asia e Africa, where he plans to set some important routes.
"Our network from Abu Dhabi will. will rapidly expand as destinations are added to the 'green countries' list. Thanks to the support of the government and our local business partners in Abu Dhabi, we are fully prepared. We have the plane, we have the crew, we have the partners, and we are ready to Fly. We look forward to building a new travel segment in this important market "
Stating this is Kees Van Schaick, CEO of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, who says the ultra-low-fare airline will introduce a "new model of air travel, showing that things are looking up for next year."
The first flight ever will be the route Abu Dhabi - Athens: Wizz Air's new Low Cost will depart at 12:30 p.m. and arrive in the Greek capital at 4:15 p.m. Just 35 minutes later (at 4:15 p.m.) it will restart its engines to return to Abu Dhabi, where it is scheduled to land at 11:30 p.m., all on Jan. 15.
The lowest fare for this inaugural flight is only 49,90€, even 32,27€ for the WIZZ Discount Club card holders, including the small bag to carry in the cabin and place under the seat, a rate obviously increased if you plan to carry the actual carry-on baggage (like any self-respecting Low Cost).
Jozsef Varadi, CEO of Wizz, said that the fledgling low-cost company will be able to operate up to 100 aircraft in a day, after Athens in the coming months will be joined by routes to Thessalonica, Alexandria, Kutaisi, Larnaca, Odessa and Yerevan in Armenia.
"The tourism is a top priority in Abu Dhabi's growth strategy.
Significant investments go not only to our airports but also to the tourism infrastructure, including hotel, resort and attractions cultural. Last year the emirate reached a record 11.35 million visitors, and a key factor for this is the connectivity which allows people to visit Abu Dhabi in a way that easy e convenient".
Statements by Mr. Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi, as well as CEO of the Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company. Words that make us realize that the Middle Eastern market is opening up not only to wealthy tourists, but also to us mere mortals that Low Cost airlines like Wizz Air we know them well.
Indeed, the Middle Eastern market, as we know, is dominated by giants such as Qatar, Emirates and Etihad and here Wizz Air Abu Dhabi plays a key role in positioning itself in the Low Cost Market which is currently covered only by FlyDubai, i.e., Emirates' in-house Low Cost.
I don't know about you, but I'm already thinking about it, just check when and where I can travel thanks to the interactive map of Skyscanner and packing, the vaccine we found it, the Low Cost which takes us to Middle East there's, well, 2021 is promising!
