For the fourth year in a row, the Finland triumphs among the Happiest countries in the world In the United Nations World Happiness Report.
In this article:

Why is Finland at the top of the happiest countries in the world?
Published by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, a global initiative for the United Nations, the World Happiness Report 2021 is a bit different from previous years in that it focuses on the effects of Covid-19 and how people around the world have responded. The goal of the survey was just that: Study the impact of the Coronavirus, the way governments handled the pandemic. Explain how and why some countries have done better than others.
In spite of the issues the pandemic has brought with it, the challenges and the increase in mortality, Finland ranked first among the happiest countries in the world. And, the reason, leaps to the eyes of even the tourist. Spending a vacation in Finland means reconnecting with nature (75% of the country's land area is covered by forests), treat themselves to lunches and dinners of fresh vegetables and fruits, make "lake-jumping" among the territory's 188,000 lakes, boarding canoes and kayaks, taking long horseback rides, and finding wellness in saunas. All habits, these, that Finns have. And which are part of their happiness.
Finns appreciate the little things, love to take a dip in the sea before starting their workday and sit on a bench overlooking the lake at the end of the day. And that is then, the secret of happiness: rejoicing in the small moments that one's life holds.
The ranking
La Top 10 of the Happiest countries in the world is composed as follows:
- Finland
- Iceland
- Denmark
- Switzerland
- Netherlands
- Sweden
- Germany
- Norway
- New Zealand
- Austria
A clear triumph for Northern Europe, thanks in part to the way it dealt with the pandemic. With few closures and with the respect for the rules typical of a population that believes in its country.
True, in Europe and America, mortality caused by Covid-19 has been higher than in many Asian countries. But, very strict policies of closures and deprivation, while controlling the contagion also undermine (and by a lot) people's happiness. So much so that, psychological problems and depressions, have significantly increased since the health emergency hit.
The pandemic, moreover, reminds us of the environmental threats we should all be dealing with and the need to cooperate as an individual country but also globally. Because, More than wealth, we need to work for welfare. And the Finns understood that.
Where is theItaly In the ranking of the happiest countries? At 25th place (in 2020 it was 28th).
