Why has it already made headlines? From midnight on August 10 to midnight on the 16th, it was held An auction, the world's first with NFT technology, to book a hotel night.
The auction via NFT
"Become the first guest in hotel history! Make the world's first hotel reservation via NFT!" it read on Cà di Dio's website. And the reservation was made. The auction winner paid 1 EHT, or about €2,800, for:
- a stay in the Altana Suite, the best in the hotel, which can accommodate up to 4 people
- A dinner on the terrace, the altana, overlooking the Lagoon and San Giorgio
- Private boat transfer to reach the hotel
The auction base started at 220 euros.
What we know about Cà di Dio
Cà di Dio is located within a historic mansion, a 1272 palace that has retained its former glory thanks to a respectful architectural design. Here, at the entrance to the Arsenal and in the midst of the "Contemporary Art District", you can feel the atmosphere of the Biennale. St. Mark's Square is nearby, the center of Venice too. And everything speaks of the city.
Patricia Urquiola with her studio conducted a "local" project, focusing on the city dichotomy. On the one hand there is the rigor of the building, with its original structure of severe character, on the other hand there is the refinement and elegance typical of Venetian palaces. Of the three internal courtyards, one is an oasis of peace in which to stop and listen to the silence. The main courtyard has an area with lounges and lounges that extends the Lobby outside, carved out of an old church. Then there is an area dedicated to the TRUE Restaurant with very intimate interior spaces and a dehor overlooking the Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore. There is also a reading room, the Alchemia Bar overlooking the waterfront, and the Essentia restaurant reserved for hotel guests.
There are 9 rooms, 57 suites. And, also available to guests is the Pure Spa and Wellness. The most exclusive accommodation? The two suites on the top floor, with exclusive access to the rooftop altanas and a 360-degree view of Venice.
Truth be told, the rooms are all extraordinary. The Deluxe Rooms and Junior Suites were carved out of the former spaces reserved for pilgrims, have Murano glass lamps, marble-clad bathrooms, and a subdued, muted color palette. Premium Junior Suites overlook the interior gardens: the kitchen garden, mimosa and magnolia trees soaring skyward. The Junior Suite Vista and Junior Suite Vista Laguna offer magical views, while the suites are extraordinary microcosms of originality and refinement. The prices? For two nights in a junior suite you spend 936 euros, in the very luxurious Altana Suite 8,136. By early September, the hotel is already sold-out.
