Once again, access and movement regulations in many countries of Europe are changing. There are fears of the effect of variations as the cold seasons arrive. Spain, which did not experience an easy August, can be added to the list. There has been a lowering of the average age of ICU inpatients and, in general, the easing of security measures has led to difficulty in management and control. It can be said, therefore, that last month began the fifth wave on Spanish soil.
In this article:
It was therefore decided to take corrective action starting in September, turning its gaze to a variety of types of tourists. For a large number of countries, it was decided to implement a restrictive system. Access to Spanish territories will be banned to all those unable to provide a vaccination test valid. Are there any exceptions? To date only one and it relates to the travelers under the age of 12.
Spain, Italy are among the high-risk countries
Every 7 days the Spanish government updates the list of countries deemed to be at high risk of contagion. Italy is fully on it, except for one region. The new compulsory access with proof of vaccination actually goes to replace the more lax previous regulation. Until recently, one could gain access with either proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test taken within the previous 72 hours.
Tourists will, therefore, have to submit a QR code generated by the "Spain Travel Health" portal.. The following data will be requested:
- name
- surname
- passport number
- flight details
- Vaccination info (type, area, and doctor in charge)
Spain, the list of countries at risk
In the first week of September, Spain decided to update its list of countries deemed high-risk. This resulted in Italy and France to fall entirely within the list, without exception. What does this all mean? The answer is simple, and it is the same answer that every U.S. tourist has heard at this stage: you need to be vaccinated.
As mentioned, however, things change from week to week. The list of at-risk countries is updated on a weekly basis, somewhat like what used to happen with regional colors in our territory. So in mid-September a change was made, effectively excluding only the Aosta Valley from the critical range.
The following list turns out to be valid From midnight on Sept. 20 until 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 26. Here are the regions of Italy at risk:
- Basilicata
- Calabria
- Brands
- Sardinia
- Sicily
- Tuscany
- Abruzzo
- Campania
- Emilia-Romagna
- Friuli-Venezia Giulia
- Latium
- Liguria
- Lombardy
- Molise
- Piedmont
- Autonomous Province of Bolzano
- Autonomous Province of Trento
- Apulia
- Umbria
- Veneto
Only those from the Aosta Valley, therefore, will be able to enter Spain by presenting one of these three types of documents:
- certificate of vaccination
- certificate of healing
- negative swab taken within the last 72 h
Instead, a vaccination trial will be the only way to land in Spain from the other regions of Italy and the following countries of Europe:
- Austria
- Belgium
- Bulgaria
- Croatia
- Cyprus
- Denmark
- Estonia
- Finland (Helsinki-Uusimaa, Etelä-Suomi, Länsi-Suomi and Pohjois- ja ItäSuomi)
- France
- Germany
- Greece
- Hungary (Budapest)
- Iceland
- Ireland
- Italy (except Valle d'Aosta)
- Latvia
- Liechtenstein
- Lithuania
- Luxembourg
- Malta
- Norway
- Portugal (both the mainland and the autonomous region of Madeira)
- Romania (Bucharest-Ilfov, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, South-Muntenia,
- Southwest Oltenia and West)
- Slovakia (Bratislava kraj and Východné Slovensko)
- Slovenia
- Sweden
- Netherlands
