Dubai continues to grind out records: after the tallest Ferris wheel ever made, here is the inauguration of the World's largest floating disco.
In this article:
His name is Float Dubai and, hosting it, is the historic ship Queen Elizabeth 2 (known in the cruise circuit as Q2).
Everything you need to know about the world's largest floating disco
The Queen Elizabeth 2 was purchased in 2008 by the Maktoum family (the royal family of Dubai). Now, here her transformation has finally been completed. Last October 14, it opened its doors on the'215-room floating hotel' which is part of Dubai's plan for incredible new openings. But more importantly, its giant nightclub was inaugurated with a performance by rapper DaBaby, along with DJs, dancers and acrobats.
Thus, the world's largest floating disco, Float Dubai, allows dancing aboard the Queen Elizabeth II, a ship rich in history and culture from the past. And which uses the technologies of the future to ensure an unforgettable experience.
Nestled between the Persian Gulf, the city's modern skyline, and its cultural monuments, the hotel is the perfect location for a nightclub that promises to evolve Dubai's nightlife. This is due in part to its proximity to the city's residential and tourist spots, including the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, and the international airport.
A location rich in history
Since it is still pandemic time, disco activity will initially be somewhat limited. There are currently no other events scheduled, and dancing is not allowed: Those who intend to treat themselves to an evening here must necessarily book a table, with prices starting at around 1,000 euros. From the Float's social pages, it appears that the venue is outdoors and guests can remove their masks once they are seated. The plays of colored light are incredible, the technology is tangible. But, to fully enjoy it, restrictions need to be loosened.
Designed to accommodate 1,000 people, Float can accommodate more users than the hotel can. And it is indeed the largest floating disco in the world. Suffice it to say that the Oasis of the Seas, one of the largest cruise ships in operation with a capacity of 5,400 passengers, can accommodate a maximum of 200 in its disco.
The Queen Elizabeth II was launched in 1967 for the Cunard Line, a shipping company specializing in long-haul world cruises. Later transformed into something between an ocean liner and a cruise ship, she began to offer voyages departing from the United Kingdom. She was always a prestigious ship, beloved by the stars of the time. And she even served as a troop ship during the Falklands War in 1982. Later returned to service, she ended her glorious career with Cunard (bought by Carnival Corporation in 1998). Now, here is where a new phase has begun for the Q2. Another extraordinary chapter in the course of her long life.
