In the pre Covid world, Malpensa Terminal 2. was the home of EasyJet and lowcost carriers, but with the advent of the pandemic it has been off since last March, that is, since all traffic at the airport in the province of Varese was concentrated on Terminal 1.
In this article:
The Moxy, a Marriott Group sign., is located just on the opposite side of the arrivals area and is obviously the most convenient hotel if you have to fly from this terminal, as is the Sheraton is ideal if you are flying from terminal 1.
Reservation
Having to travel to the area for work reasons, I decided to book this facility together with colleagues. Good excuse to make more points And excellent solution to take advantage of the promotion cashback dedicated to American Express customers.
Coupled with the fact that the terminal is closed, the fares are very affordable. Plus it's a great way to take advantage of Gold status in the Bonvoy loyalty program and make a few handfuls of bonus points.
The location
As mentioned, we are exactly in front of the terminal, with half of the rooms facing the runway and the other half looking at the parking lots and boarding area.
Getting there is very easy from the freeway that allows from the highways to the stopover.
The hotel
The Moxy stands out for its design, starting with the iconic reception desk integrated into the bar counter and generally for the furniture choices that distinguish the common spaces.
In Milan, there is a second Moxy, right in front of Linate airport.. Of the two, the prettiest is definitely the one near the Milanese city airport.
The impression here is that everything is less Moxy, starting with the attitude of the staff, which I found less exuberant than in other facilities such as the one in Lisbon or Amsterdam that I visited recently.
There are two spaces where you can work or have a beer before bedtime, and they have the classic colorful and cheerful decor you would expect in these hotels.
Very nice is the wall with the motorcycle helmets turned into chandeliers and the long table in front of the bar counter. Everything, however, seems adapted, whereas in the other hotels you get the impression that everything was designed specifically for the facility.
The room
The Moxy's rooms are basic; in the center is the suspended bed lit with colored LEDs, something found in all the chain's facilities.
Otherwise mega screen, giant picture on the wall and little else.
On a positive note, compared to other Moxy hotels I have visited, the bathroom is much larger than the usual always identical "loculi" normally found in rooms.
Breakfast
This was, I think, my first breakfast in a Moxy and will probably be my last. The style is what I had seen at all the other hotels I had stayed at in the past, but the quality left a lot to be desired.
Add to that the fact that the front desk and the bar counter are one and the staff who should be serving breakfast are busy checking out, and there you have the experience is not the best.
In conclusion
The feeling is that this hotel is become a Moxy and was not born with the DNA of the chain that distinguishes the other hotels of this sign. Much, of course, is done by the little things, such as the signs left here and there by the staff, which were completely missing here.
In any case, if you have to leave early in the morning from Terminal 2 when it becomes operational again, it is definitely the ideal solution. From the bedroom to the check-in desks in less than a 5-minute walk.

Pro
- The position
- The bathroom larger than usual
Against
- It lacks a little soul
- Breakfast is not worth the price
