New step forward by ITA Airways and the Flying loyalty program. With an email sent to all members, the frequent flyer card of the new Italian flag carrier was delivered.
In this article:
The moment is important because as of today, members can start taking advantage of the benefits provided even when they are not flying with ITA Airways. The graphics on the cards are reminiscent of the colors of the new livery and not the one submitted at the time of the program launch last October 15.
We created on FB a group Dedicated to discussions about the fly program, if you are interested sign up.
....we are pleased to send you your ITA Airways Volare Premium Club virtual card that will allow you to enjoy the benefits we have reserved for Members right away. From today we welcome you to our 12 lounges around the world, including those in Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate, to make your travel experience even more comfortable. As a Premium Member, you are entitled to several exclusive SkyPriority services; use them now by showing your virtual card to the attendants at the airport.
In your private area, from March 1, you can view your point balance and spend it on ITA Airways flights!
This is the message accompanying the card. So at the moment we are talking about a digital card and it is not specified whether ITA Airways will also send the physical version or, copiating what has been done by other programs will abandon the good old card by focusing only on digital. There are currently no links or shortcuts to add the card to phone wallets, it will then be necessary to save the image to show when necessary to obtain the benefits provided by the individual statuses.
It is possible that with an update of the official app the card may be displayed through this system as well, but at the moment the news is only visible on the personal profile on the desktop version of the ITA Airways website.
The rest of the information is always missing, such as details for accumulation/spending of program points Flying that will hopefully take off as planned by March 1.
Lounges reopened
At the same time, ITA Airways has also made official what we had written last week, or the reopening of the lounges.
As of today, Piazza di Spagna and Piazza alla Scala have been reopened, the two former Alitalia waiting rooms have changed color and branding but, different strategy Compared to what was done with airplanes, they did not change their names.
In addition to this in the dedicated page on the company's website, which will soon be entirely renovated, read 10 more lounges available to all travelers: only one in Italy, at Turin Caselle, while the others are all at international airports served by ITA Airways.
Lounges:
AMSTERDAM Amsterdam Schipol |
KLM crown Lounge 25 | SkyTeam |
ATHENS Eleftherios Venizelios |
Gold Air Lounge | Airport |
BRUSSELS Brussels-Nationaal |
Diamond Lounge | Airport |
FRANKFURT Flughafen Frankfurt |
Air France lounge | SkyTeam |
NEW YORK John Fitzgerald Kennedy |
KLM lounge | SkyTeam |
GENEVA Aéroport de Genève-Cointrin |
Marhaba | Airport |
MONACO Franz Josef Strauß |
Air France KLM | SkyTeam |
TEL AVIV Ben-Gurion |
Dan Lounge | Airport |
TUNISI Tunis-Carthage |
Salon Vip | Airport |
The list has important absences, for example Paris and London, but it will surely be updated in the coming weeks. In any case, it is already a step in the right direction.
What is not clear is why there is a need to specify which lounge be able to use. Being a SkyTeam partner, you should be able to access all partner rooms and not just a small group.
