ITA Airways, ready to open lounges at Fiumicino and Milan Linate airports
ITA AIrways ready to open its lounges in Milan and Rome
Recommended by TFC
The news is not official, but it would seem that the (re)opening of the two former Alitalia lounges in Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate is on the home stretch. Obviously goodbye green and logo from Casa Alitalia and welcome blue ITA Airways.

In recent days the lights have been turned back on in the lounges where some preparatory work is underway for the reopening of the two former Alitalia lounges: the one at Rome Fiumicino with Alitalia called Piazza di Spagna and at Milan Linate Piazza alla Scala. Both halls have been closed since March 2020, that is, since the outbreak of the pandemic.
Who has access to the lounges
Lounge access should be allowed for all business class travelers, including those traveling in superior in domestic routes and to all the owners Of premium or higher status in ITA Airways' frequent flyer, Fly. All holders of the level SkyTeam Elite plus and travelers holding SkyPriority tickets.
Just yesterday the numbers of the Volare loyalty program were released, which boasts nearly 230,000 members. The reopening of the lounges was a persistent demand of all travelers of the new Italian flag carrier.
Rome Fiumicino lounges
Alitalia had four lounges at the Roman airport:
- Navona Square was in the check-in area of Terminal 1. Accessible before screening, it was the most convenient for all flights departing to Schengen destinations; today, renovations are underway in that area of the airport and there is no longer a trace of the lounge.
- Venice Square was in the Pier D area, just in front of the Prima Vista lounge accessible to Priority Pass holders. This lounge was in the Schengen flight area and was mainly used by people passing through Fiumicino connecting to a short-haul destination.
- Spanish Steps. It was Alitalia's main lounge, the one in Pier E for intercontinental flights. This very one will be reopened by ITA, these days in fact it is changing color.
- People's Square. It was the lounge in the satellite of terminal 3 Rome Fiumicino airport.
Unknown at the moment is the future of the other lounges, such as the one in Malpensa, Piazza San Babila. With the reopening of the flight to New York, we'll see if ITA will reopen this lounge or if you will support the Montale Hall.
Alitalia also had lounges in Venice and Catania and in New York, in Terminal 1, the only lounge outside Italian borders.
