Centurion Lounge JFK, beautiful and full of surprises

This is the newest Centurion Lounge of all those currently in the world, was only opened last October 9, about two months after the one in London. It is located in Terminal 4 of New York's busiest airport. The terminal is the one used by Delta, Emirates, Virgin Atlantic and other airlines such as Swiss, Air India and Egypair.
In this article:
Unfortunately, that is not what he uses ITA Airways that, as was the case with Alitalia, for flights to New York. is based on Terminal 1. Also unlike at other airports, at JFK you cannot go from terminal to terminal without leaving the sterile area. So in order to visit you must have a flight departing from this terminal, as well as being an American Express Platinum holder.
It is the newest is and also the larger one, the only one on two floors and especially the only one with a speakeasy.
Location
The hall is located on the second floor, the same level as the security controls, just turn left past the controls and you will find the entrance right in front of you.
Impossible to miss, and in case you can't find it, just spot the entrance to the Etihad lounge-it's right next door.
As mentioned to gain access one must present an American Express Platino, or Centurion. For cards issued in Italy, unlike what happens with American cards, you are also allowed to bring a guest into the lounge free of charge.
The hall
After the reception desk, you enter via a small hallway to the main lounge, which completely overlooks the terminal. At sunset the room is flooded with beautiful natural light, perfect for relaxing and enjoying a pre-flight cocktail.
Of all the lounges in this terminal, it is definitely the one with the best view On what happens on the forecourt, better both of Virgin's Clubhouse Than the Delta Sky Club. The reason is simple: the lounge overlooks the apron but has no finger so you can observe everything happening on the runway without any obstruction.
The lounge is on two floors. On the upper floor is the main buffet and one of the 3, that's right three, lounge bars.
There are a series of seats along the window and then a series of small rooms of various sizes scattered here and there.
The lower floor has much more seating than the main floor.
Here, too, we find several small rooms with different seating options, a second bar, and a second buffet, smaller in size than the one upstairs.
Then at the end of the room is a huge wooden door with 1850 written on it. This is the door to the speakeasy, which is a secret bar as in the days of Prohibition in 1930s America. Everything here is dark and big curtains cover the windows so that from the outside you cannot know what is going on inside.
In fact, it is the third bar in the lounge, a bar where you can drink great cocktails, enjoy a beer and relax before taking off.
Food & Beverage
As mentioned there are three bars, the most beautiful of course being the "hidden" speakeasy on the ground floor, the one that gives a different feeling and does not feel like being in an airport.
The food offerings are also almost gourmet, although compared to the London lounge all dishes are self-service and not single-serving.
On one thing, however, you are never disappointed in a Centurion Lounge, we are talking about the cocktails. Both in the main bar, but especially in the "secret" bar, excellent cocktails and a wide selection of spirits are served, because you know: the average American always has a drink in hand.
There are also two islands dedicated to hot beverages and soft drinks where you can serve yourself in peace.
Services
This lounge offers, in addition to food to drinks and wifi, an Equinox lounge.
Here you can relax in the yoga room, there is a special chair for meditation, and then a larger room where you can use special self-massage machines or try a massage done with a pneumatic system. All free for guests who need do nothing more than choose what to do and make reservations. Unlike other lounges that have eliminated this option, here Amex distinguishes itself with a number of unique aviation services.
There is also a machine that allows people to sterilize their devices, just plug in their cell phone, tablet and notebook and turn it on, and in less than 60 seconds all devices will be sanitized.
In conclusion
This is the most option-rich terminal for Amex Platinum customers, you are spoiled for choice between this Centurion, Delta's Sky Club, the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse and finally the Air India lounge, which is accessible through the Priority Pass card.
In contrast if you fly from the other terminals the choices are few and sad. It's just too bad that for the Virgin Amex lounge they chose this terminal and not 1, the one used by ITA Airways.
