As of less than a week ago, Thailand has definitely reopened its borders to all tourists. The Asian nation has two different protocols to satisfy the desire of travelers from around the world to return to visit one of the world's tourism capitals.
Test&Go for those who are fully vaccinated
In this article:
The protocol Test&Go had been launched in November, then suspended with the outbreak of the omicron variant, is now back in full operation with some changes from the initial rules. In order to enter Thailand without travel restrictions, one must go through this modality and be fully vaccinated. The site where start the procedure is this, utmost attention to scam sites.
Who can join the protocol:
- Tourists from all over the world
- Subjects fully vaccinated against Covid-19 not less than 14 days before travel
Requirements before leaving
- Reservation on hotel SHA Extra+ o QA approved for 2 days (day 1 and day 5)
- Reservation and payment for Covid-19 tests To be made upon arrival in Thailand and between the 5th and 6th day after arrival
- Negative test result Covid-19 (RT-PCR), released within 72 hours before travel. Important the result must be negative or undetected And it must be in English.
- If the RT-PCR result is positive or detected, a certificate of cure or proof of cure from Covid is required for at least 14 days prior to travel but less than 90 days from the first date of detection
Documentation to be produced
- Thai passport and visa, Italians can travel by obtaining visa on arrival for 45 days maximum stay
- Certificate of vaccination
- Insurance with minimum coverage of $50,000 USD
- Confirmation of hotel reservation AQ / SHA Extra+ fee
- Confirmation of hotel reservation AQ / SHA Extra+ fee for 2 days (day 1 and day 5 and reservation must include 2 RT-PCR test fee and airport transfer for day 1)
If you plan to stay in Thailand for less than 5 days (including departure on day 5), only hotel reservation for day 1 (including 1 fee for RT-PCR test and airport transfer) and flight document showing departure date are required
The tourist corridor to Phuket
Italy allows from Feb. 1 non-essential travel only to Phuket. The island was the first area of Thailand to reopen its borders and is also the area with the highest number of the population vaccinated with 3 doses and even a campaign is already underway to give a fourth dose to the weakest.
The legislation of the tourist corridor requires that the trip comply with a whole series of precautions and be arranged by a qualified tour operator.
I have already been 3 times in Thailand since last July with the Sandbox protocol, which is much more complicated and laborious than the current Test&Go. I was impressed on how perfectly all the procedures are organized and everything goes smoothly Whether you arrive in Bangkok or Phuket and Ko Samui.
