Resorts World opened on June 24, 2021. It is the first casino to be completed on the Las Vegas Strip since the Cosmopolitan, which opened in 2010.
In this article:
We are not talking about a simple hotel, as it might be in Las Vegas, in all there are 3,500 rooms, with three Hilton hotels all under one roof. It cost "only" $4.3 billion to build; it is the most expensive resort ever developed in Las Vegas.
First of all, what is resort world
It is the northernmost property on the famous Strip, the street that houses Sin City's most iconic hotels. It is next to the Wynn and Encore, which are slightly before and on the other side of the Strip.
It is also the closest, if you can call it that since it is still a good 10 minutes by cab, to "old" Las Vegas, where the equally famous Freemont Experience and the new Circa, the other new thing in town, the first adults-only hotel.
The structure, two immense 56-story buildings, houses 3 different Hilton hotels: Conrad, Hilton and Crockford. The latter is the newest ultra-luxury family of the American chain.
The first thing to know is that the sign is Hilton, so made in the U.S. at 100%, but the ownership and soul are Asian since the people who put up the dollars to build it are the Genting Group of Malaysia.
The references to the Orient are many from both aesthetic and superstitious points of view, in this hotel there is no 4. It goes from floor 39 directly to floor 50. Nor is there a room number that contains 4.
Reservation
I stayed in Las Vegas over the weekend of the Super Bowl, on the day the governor decided to also remove the mask requirement inside casinos, restaurants and nightclubs.
I booked through the American Express travel site for two reasons. The promotion that Gave 9 bonus Membership Rewards points for each reservation, and why the hotel participates in the Fine Hotels + Resorts.
The cost of the basic room was just over 450 euros plus taxes and the lousy "resort fee." However, there was an FHR offer that discounted the room cost by 25% to which I added the voucher from 150€ included in the annual fee of my American Express Platinum.
In the end, the room cost me just under 210€.. The advantage of booking through FHR is that you get so many benefits and, in a facility like this, it means saving so much money.
The benefits you get are:
- 12:00 check-in
- 16:00 guaranteed check-out
- room upgrade (to the next category)
- breakfast credit of $ 33 (per person)
- $ 125 credit for food and drink to spend anywhere on the property
- welcome cocktail in the lobby bar
These were in addition to the benefits provided by my Diamond Hilton status. Unfortunately, in the U.S. Gold and Diamond customers no longer receive free breakfast, but a credit to spend in hotel restaurants. Nevertheless, in this case breakfast is still included thanks to FHR, so To the benefits mentioned above I added another 25$ of credit.
In the end I got as much as 183$ to spend in the facility. It might seem like a lot, but it's not in Las Vegas and in facilities like this one. A beer costs 12$, a hamburger 25$ the breakfast buffet 29$. On balance, I zeroed out all expenses incurred at the hotel.
Considering that rooms cost even less than 90€ during the week, taking advantage of the FHR really leads to being "paid" to stay at this hotel. In my case, however, it was one of the most expensive days of the year. One has to remember, however, the obnoxious habit that hotels in this city have, which is to add a Resort Fee that does not appear in the room price and that you pay at check-out.
In this hotel it means 45$ per day and includes services that you think should be included in the daily rate:
- High-speed 5G Wi-Fi (30 Mbps) for up to eight devices
- Using Smart TV
- Refrigerator in the room
- Unlimited local and free phone calls
- Access to swimming pools
- 5% discount on Cabana experience ($ 800 Cabana plus food and drink minimum)
- 5% discount on pool chair experience (two chairs and minimum $ 200)
- 5% discount on wellness and fitness treatments (minimum $ 230 per treatment)
- 10% discount on retail spa or fitness items (minimum $ 100)
Thanks to the double promotion: the winter one that gives 2500 bonus points and the American one Points in the city giving as many, with this living room I have accumulated just over 13,500 points, almost enough to A free night in the Milan Doubletree.
Location
Of the location we have already mentioned. I walked in the evening quietly from the heart of the Strip, i.e., the most famous structures such as Bellagio, Venetian and Caesar Palace with no problems. During the day and in the Vegas heat, better to use a cab or uber.
Check-in
From the moment you step inside this facility you can tell that it is not just any hotel, there is no wow effect, but it is really beautiful and it still "smells" all new.
I skipped the check-in line thanks to Hilton Honors status, in less than 5 minutes I had my keys and the receptionist was explaining all the hotel's benefits and offerings.
Of course, thanks to status and FHR booking, my basic room was upgraded to a Strip view, a room that cost about 80€ more than the one I had booked. The first benefit was a glass of champagne in the bar right in front of the check-in desks.
The room
You don't need a map to get around this facility, but getting confused is very easy. As usual, not all elevators lead to all floors, and especially also the story about the lack of floors and rooms having 4 is a little confusing.
My room, which was not a suite, was still huge. The view of the Strip is not exactly as exciting as in other hotels further south.
This for example was the view from my suite at the Aria, the fountains of the Bellagio, the Eiffel tower of the Paris Paris, and the Ferris wheel.
King bed and mega screen are a must. But it's true that you don't come to Las Vegas to sleep, and the room is important, but that's not what should drive choosing one location over another.
Personally, I chose ResortWorld because it is the "hottest" place on the strip right now, we can say. shares the scene with the Circa. The advantage is that being a Hilton Group hotel, it is possible to stay here using points or by accumulating points for upcoming award stays.
Since it opened, this facility has undoubtedly become one of the best opportunities to stay in Las Vegas while also accumulating points during your stay. And since at the end of the day you get 10 points for every dollar spent, the presence of restaurants, clubs and other activities allows you to put a fair amount of points in your piggy bank.
For us "points sufferers" but not casino loyalty programs, there are few opportunities to sleep in Vegas at a hotel on the Strip and earn points.
The bathroom is as huge as everything else. This is not Manhattan; there is no shortage of space here, so they certainly don't skimp on the size of the shower or the double sink. Kudos for eliminating single-use plastic. It may seem like a "cheap" choice to have dispensers, but it is definitely environmentally friendly.
The room is obviously hypertechnological, you operate it through your TV, your cell phone, without having to touch the switches. You can see that everything is new, there are in fact USB-C sockets and not traditional sockets. There is also the clock radio with wireless cell phone charging.
Above all, the technology is designed not to let anything slip through the cracks, such as the contents of the minibar or the small galley, complete with "hot" items because in the end this is the city of sin.
Be careful, however, if you touch the goods and do not put them back in place within thirty seconds you will be charged to your room bill. And the prices are definitely not popular.
In the services that are paid with the "resort fee" is the use of the in-room minibar. Not to be confused with the ability to drink what is contained, but it allows you to be able to use the empty, available part of the refrigerator to store your goods without moving what is in the other part of the refrigerator.
Swimming pools
It is not always warm in Las Vegas, February is probably the coldest month, this leads many resorts to reduce outside services between early year and spring, but it does not result in a discount on the resort fee.
The pools are on the floor above the casino, and there is something for everyone. Unfortunately, however, during my visit many were closed given the low number of guests.
If you think Las Vegas is just casinos and gambling, it's time to change your mind. Sure, they play an important role, but the multinationals that run these industries know full well that you have to offer more. Like fun for young people, the pools so they turn into the clubs for daytime parties, with the best DJs in the world as resident as if it were Ibiza.
Not forgetting families and children, with dedicated parks and especially shows suitable for every guest in the city.
The pools are sure to meet the needs of all guests, perfect for relaxing after a hike to the Grand Canyon or a good night at the gaming tables.
Casinos
At a Las Vegas resort One cannot fail to mention the casino. The one at Resort World is huge; it couldn't be otherwise for a hotel on the Strip. There is everything and more.
Slots of all kinds, opportunities to play from 1 cent, although then you actually never play from a penny, at least not in downtown Las Vegas. Impossible not to find a slot you don't like, or the table where you don't lose a few handfuls of dollars.
The beauty of Las Vegas casinos, at least the one I like, is observing people. The behaviors, the habits. There are those who love to bet heavy (and can afford to) and those who spend their time trying to lose as little money as possible. It's a "free" show.
On the top floor is a second area, with only tables for "no-limit" players that borders Club 66. There is also a terrace here to enjoy a beautiful view of the Strip.
Food & Beverage
The resort offers everything. At one end of the casino is the street food plaza, a real area with a dozen different types of cuisines as if we were in a shopping mall, which then there is also inside the resort.
In the center of the square is a bar where people can drink, eat, and socialize.
Gatsby's is a cocktail bar, with deejay. It opens around 8 p.m. and closes around 2 a.m. Also here, as in the rest of the hotel, everything is "expensive," and having a credit to spend allows you to enjoy a stay at this hotel even more light-heartedly. The important thing is to always remember to have everything charged to your room bill. That way every dollar spent will turn into points in our Hilton profile.
More restaurants and pizzerias can be found in the resort's shopping area. Here among upscale boutiques, restaurants, pubs, and attractions of various kinds one can get as lost as in a regular shopping mall.
Breakfast credit can be used at The Kitchen restaurant, available to guests is an a la carte menu or the classic breakfast buffet.
I treated myself to a classic American dish, Steak & Eggs with some baked potatoes. Excellent quality of meat and eggs tasted just right.
In conclusion
This facility is definitely a small revolution in the Strip scene, especially for us Italians who cannot take advantage of the loyalty programs linked to Las Vegas casinos. Using points for sleeping, or accumulating several points by sleeping, is a solution that has been missing at this level. Of course, I was particularly unlucky by happening to be in the Super Bowl weekend, with room prices spiking to post-pandemic highs; today the same room costs less than 100$ and, if booked with FHR, means getting "paid" to stay there. Not bad at all.
