Day by day the travel restrictions around the world. How the Thai Pass works
This authorization is required for all travelers who do not hold a Thai visa or passport. Here is a summary of the changes from June 1, 2022, confirmed by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, valid for Italian passport holders:
- Certificate of vaccination
- Passport details
- Evidence of a policy travel insurance of more than US$10,000
- Thailand Pass will automatically issue a QR code immediately upon completion of the application.
- Vaccinated travelers will be screened for entry, then free to travel across the country.
Applications for the Thailand Pass are free of charge. It is possible to apply up to 60 days before travel, and the approval QR code is valid for a 15-day window, including the scheduled +/- 7-day entry date, without the need to upload new supporting documents.
This means that if for some reason, the date of the flight changes, but you stay within the one-week window (before or after the initial date of the flight), you will not have to make any new request.
The ability to get the okay in real time is a great advantage; in fact, it is again possible to arrange a last-minute trip by applying for the Thai pass even on the day of departure (which was impossible from pre-pandemic times, as up to 48 hours were required to date to get the QR to show at the airport).
Travel to Thailand for the unvaccinated
As of June 1, 2022, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers 12 years of age and older can apply for a Thailand Pass, uploading proof of a negative PCR or ART test within 72 hours of departure instead of a vaccination certificate. The unvaccinated will also be free to travel across the country, without quarantine requirements, having demonstrated their negative Covid19 status before departure.
This is the first time unvaccinated travelers will be able to travel to Thailand without quarantine Since the beginning of the pandemic.
