ITA Airways to be title sponsor of Monza Autodromo Nazionale's centenary celebration. The meaning of this important partnership was explained this morning at ITA Airways Piazza di Spagna lounge at Terminal E of Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Fiumicino. Present were the president of the ACI Angelo Sticchi Damiani, the president of CONI John Malagò and the executive chairman of ITA Airways Alfredo Altavilla.

The media meeting was preceded by the unveiling of the first ITA Airways aircraft with the logo for the 100th Monza celebrations: a new blue livery Airbus A330 dedicated to Tazio Nuvolari, the "Flying Mantuan," universally considered one of the greatest pilots of all time.
Known around the world as "The Temple of Speed," the Monza Autodrome is the second oldest facility in the world still in operation-the only one in which Formula 1 races are still held-and is considered the fastest track, as well as one of the most spectacular and challenging, in the entire World Championship.
To celebrate this incredible century of great sports, three Aircraft with new blue livery from the ITA Airways fleet will wear the logo of the racetrack celebrations: in addition to the Airbus A330 dedicated to Tazio Nuvolari, two other Airbus A319s in the fleet named after Alberto Ascari, two-time Formula 1 world champion (1952 and '53, both in Ferraris), Michele Alboreto, F1 world vice-champion in 1985, in a Ferrari.
ITA Airways' big news will also be to dedicate the flagship of its fleet, namely the new Airbus A350, blue livery to the legendary Enzo Ferrari - "the Drake" - legendary founder and of the eponymous stable, the most titled in the history of Formula 1, with 31 world titles (16 constructors, 15 drivers).
This is the first time ever that the man who changed the history of world motorsports has a plane named after him, and only ITA could do it.
Special thanks to engineer Piero Ferrari and Ferrari management who allowed this to happen.
The airbus A350 in ITA Airways' fleet represents the ultimate expression of technology, sustainability and innovation. This is the first time the national airline has this aircraft in its fleet, moreover in as many as 6 units. The name Enzo Ferrari will be written on a red background, also a uniqueness, because red and Ferrari are one and the same as ITA Airways and light blue, as exclusive is this red detail among all the aircraft in the fleet. The bonnubio between Enzo Ferrari and ITA Airways is natural: as Ferrari innovated racing, ITA Airways wants to pioneer innovation in air travel. And today ACI and the Monza National Autodrome, with the presence of Coni, have given the opportunity to make this link concrete. ITA Airways' four airplanes in light blue livery with the celebratory logo of the Monza racetrack are part of the company's strategy to stand by the sport.
The "Enzo Ferrari" plane will be the ambassador to the world of our country's excellence, and its first flight will be special. In fact, at the upcoming Monza Grand Prix in September. will fly over the Monza circuit and greet the starting grid. It will be a unique moment and will be an opportunity for Italy's high visibility worldwide. Moreover, this very flight will be powered by SAF, the world's most environmentally friendly jet fuel, because innovation and sustainability go hand in hand.
"With extraordinary sporting feats that have entered into myth - stated Angelo Sticchi Damiani, president of the Automobile Club of Italy, the Italian Federation of Automobile Sports. - Nuvolari, Ascari, Alboreto and, of course, Ferrari have made generations of motorsport fans and enthusiasts from all over the world fly and meet. And it is precisely this ideal twinning of emotions-those of motorsports and those of flying-along with the sharing of fundamental values common to sport and aviation-maximum professionalism, strong competitiveness, continuous technological innovation, great attention to a sustainable future-that is the idea behind this important partnership between ACI and ITA Airways."
"This year," concluded Sticchi Damiani, "our pilots will fly together: the wish of all of us is that they succeed in leading ITA Airways and the Monza National Circuit to an increasingly bright and successful future.
"We are proud," said Giovanni Malagò, CONI president - That ACI, through this prestigious partnership, reinforces our movement's bond with ITA Airways. The celebration of the Centenary of the Monza Autodrome and the naming of four aircraft after timeless figures and performers, capable of legendary feats, enhances the importance of the history of motor racing and the fundamental activity promoted by the Federation for its development. The national airline," Malagò added, "recognizes, once again, the value of Italian sport as an expression of the country's excellence, flying it around the world in the sign of collective pride. A winning synergy to reach further and further, higher and higher."
"Monza is the Italian Grand Prix and the national airline could not fail to be there, with ACI it is a natural partnership, we are both ambassadors of the best Italy in the world," said Alfredo Altavilla, executive chairman of ITA Airways. "All the more so for the centennial anniversary of the circuit. This is the first time the national airline has been present at the Italian Grand Prix and this partnership, thanks to ACI, strengthens the union between ITA Airways and sport. After planes named after various sportsmen, here are those dedicated to four figures who wrote the history of Italian motor racing, with the exclusive plane named after Enzo Ferrari. Just as he innovated racing, we want to pioneer innovation in air transportation. With conviction and determination we are changing long-established paradigms in the industry, because we know that the greatest opportunities come precisely from discontinuity, which we must be able to make the most of. And that is what we are doing."
"When we launched the Centennial logo at the Dubai Expo," stressed Ludovico Fois, communications manager and advisor for external and institutional relations at ACI - we set ourselves the goal of giving great international prominence to the history of the circuit and, above all, to its future. The choice of ITA Airways as the title sponsor of the centenary is a fundamental piece of this path, made possible by the presence of strong shared values and the desire to transmit the passion for sport and Italian energy around the world. The chosen claim ('This year, our pilots will fly together') perfectly embodies this ideal union, uniting our two worlds in an exciting common narrative."
