Emirates and JetBlue divorce, no more codeshare and mint suite award tickets with Skywards points

The divorce had been in the air for some time, now the partnership that has tied Emirates to JetBlue for years has a expiration date: october 30, 2022.

"JetBlue will discontinue its codeshare partnership with Emirates effective October 30, 2022, and customers will no longer be able to purchase itineraries with Emirates-operated flights through JetBlue booking channels. JetBlue customers with existing bookings that include an Emirates-operated segment will not see any changes to their itineraries, however, travelers will not accumulate TrueBlue points on Emirates-operated flights as of Oct. 30."

What changes for us in Italy

Thanks to this partnership it was possible to book a connection on the Jetblue network following the Milan/New York flight, a way to continue travel with the same ticket issued by the Dubai-based carrier. The most significant change, however, is The loss of an option to use Skywards points. Through the partnership you could use points from the loyalty program EK to fly into the beautiful Mint Suite, Jetblue's business class as well as of course in all other travel classes.

This has come on the eve of a historic announcement expected on September 14. In New York, after years of battles against the largest of the Gulf carriers, not only peace should be announced, but the birth of a new alliance, between United and Emirates.

By the end of the year, presumably November, in fact collaboration should get underway which will lead to codeshare between the number two American carrier and Emirates. Inevitable then is the divorce from JetBlue, which instead is close to the OneWorld alliance and especially has close ties with American Airlines.
