TFCanswers, when ITA Airways' Volare points expire.

Today I want to answer a question that we have received at least 50 times in the last few weeks between direct messages, fb comments and emails.

When do ITA Airways' Volare points expire?

There are two types of points in the fly program:

• The qualifying points are used to obtain status or renew membership; they are obtained by purchasing ITA Airways flights and count toward the achievement of Exclusive Clubs on a calendar year basis
• The non-qualifying points represent the points balance that can be spent to claim award flights and are valid until the expiration of the Volare program. They are earned by purchasing ITA Airways flights and ancillary services. They do not count toward upgrading or maintaining one's position in the membership club

So qualifying points reset to zero at the end of each year, from January 1, the race to accumulate in order to obtain status for the following year restarts. In contrast, the expiration of non-qualifying points is, at present, scheduled for October 15, 2024, or 36 months after the launch of the current points collection.

Should I do anything to save the fly points?

No status, no activity is required. The regulations have the same deadline for all members, unless extensions or changes may be made to the points program in the coming months.

Unlike points from other loyalty programs, that of ITA Airways is fixed and independent of flight activities.

I'm signed up and they haven't reset my points yet.

You don't have to worry, it always takes a few days for them to finish the exact accounts, so it is normal that they have not yet reset the qualifying point balances.

I flew with other airlines can I have the points credited to my fly account?

Right now this is one of many black holes in the ITA Airways loyalty program. It is not possible to recover those points and, if you are still in time, I recommend that you Back-credit those flights to a different program.

I still have Millemiglia points, can I combine them?

The paths between Millemiglia and the Italian national airline parted in October 2021. Today MyMiles is a separate program and if you still have points in your possession you will we explain how to save and use them, but there is no possibility of combining the two collections.
