Volotea, the low-cost airline of small and medium-sized European cities, has announced major news that will enrich its offerings at the Cagliari airport and the airports in Puglia.

Three new routes: from Cagliari to Barcelona, Athens and Brindisi

In this article:

Starting April 7, the international flight to Barcelona, while from May 27 the following will be activated 2 new exclusive connections to Athens and Brindisi. The route to Barcelona (with 3 frequencies per week during the busiest periods) will have a total offer of more than 30,200 seats, or 168 flights. The other 2 routes will both have biweekly frequencies, with an offer of more than 14,000 seats and about 80 flights each.

Also from May 27, connection from Cagliari airport to Ancona will be restored, while from April 7 it will be reactivated the Cagliari-Turin route. These new features will complement the classic Volotea connections departing from the Mameli, for a total of 16 connected destinations, 7 abroad and 9 in Italy.

"Volotea is not abandoning Sardinian territory. On the contrary. It continues to invest in the island and gets off the ground with 3 new flights, two of which it operates exclusively (Athens and Brindisi) - Valeria Rebasti, Volotea's Country Manager Italy & Southeastern Europe, said. Our bouquet of destinations departing to and from Cagliari is getting wider and wider: for next spring - summer, travelers departing from the capital will be able to take off to discover some of the most beautiful European cities, with the new additions of Barcelona and Athens, or comfortably reach Salento by landing in Brindisi. Sardinia thus continues to reconfirm itself as one of the most important markets for us, not only in Italy but internationally. We are confident that our bouquet of flights will win over an increasing number of travelers, eager to stay in Sardinia, one of the most appealing destinations internationally."

For David Crognaletti, Chief Commecial Officer, SOGAER, Cagliari Airport's management company, the consolidation of the partnership with Volotea and the opening of the new routes will contribute significantly to the further growth of the Cagliari airport: "The contribution of Volotea, which will continue to invest in Cagliari in 2023, will be crucial to continue to expand our network, with an important focus on the international segment in particular on France, Spain and Greece but also with the important confirmations and novelties on the domestic segment."

The new Brindisi-Cagliari connection kicks off.

Starting next May 27, Volotea will take off from the airport of Toast, every Tuesday and Saturday, with the New and exclusive flight to Cagliari. Volotea is already present at the Salento airport with a connection to Nantes.

The new route, which includes. a total offer of about 80 flights and more than 14,000 seats for sale, is not the only news coming to Apulia's airports: since May 28, in fact, it will also be possible to depart from Bari airport to Olbia and Corfu. This brings Volotea's connections to and from Bari to 10.: 7 in Greece (Athens, Corfu, Heraklion/Creta, Mykonos, Santorini, Skiathos and Zakynthos), 2 in Italy (Olbia and Florence - New 2023) and 1 in France (Lyon).

L'Launch of new flight and reopenings of connections from Bari to Olbia and Corfu strengthen the carrier's presence at the local level.

"Starting next May 27, flying between Brindisi and Cagliari will be even easier thanks to our new exclusively operated route: passengers from Puglia will have many convenient options at competitive prices to take off to the Sardinian capital. For those who are thinking about summer, it will be possible to take advantage of our flights right away to plan a vacation or a short-break - Valeria Rebasti added. We are confident that the connection to Cagliari, along with flights to Nantes, and the two flights to Olbia and Corfu departing from Bari Airport, will be able to meet the travel needs of those who are already planning their vacations to destinations of great tourist appeal."

"The new flights - Antonio Maria Vasile, president of Aeroporti di Puglia, said. - represent an extraordinary opportunity for the Bari and Brindisi airports. The connections announced by Volotea, a reliable partner with whom we have been working for years to improve our domestic and international network, respond to the many requests from the area. At the same time, we are certain that these flights will also develop incoming, given the great appeal that Puglia holds and that every year crowns it queen of the summer. The package of flights that Volotea is going to launch for the summer, we are sure will increase passenger traffic for the Apulian airport network. In addition, flights such as the Cagliari - Brindisi, will help to significantly improve connections to the Salento airport, which is a key asset in support of Salento's tourism industry. With these connections, we are confident that we have once again hit the objectives of the strategic planning put in place in the midst of the pandemic and that responds to every need that comes to us from the territory. By intercepting the needs of the community, we can only spur all of us to improve and increase connections."
