March 31 is a historic date for ITA Airways, ITA Airways' first Airbus A330-900 with new blue livery left the hangar of Airbus' Final Assembly Line in Toulouse today. It bears the name of Gelindo Bordin, Olympic champion in Seoul 1988 and the first Italian to win gold in the five-circle marathon. This plane is the first of 9 A330/900neo that will enter the fleet during 2023 and which will complement the A350/900 entered the fleet last summer and the old A330/200s inherited from Alitalia.

The introduction of the Airbus A330neo into ITA Airways' fleet represents. Another important step toward sustainability. Lighter, quieter and more efficient, it boasts 25% lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions per seat offered than previous generation aircraft. The A330neo will enter the fleet in the summer to serve ITA Airways' long-haul routes and new intercontinental routes.

At the moment there are no great details except that the planes. Will be configured with three classes of service: business, premium economy and economy.

Who flies the A330neo
This model entered service for the first time in the livery of TAP Portugal, and I have to say that after flying it I appreciated so much the quality compared to its predecessor in service for ITA and dozens of other airlines. Today there are many airlines flying neo, an acronym for New Engine Option, the latest in chronological order to welcome this model into the fleet was Virgin Atlantic, which also outfitted the cabin with the brand new Upper Class and an updated loft, unique in the global aviation scene.
