As of today, in fact, Thai Aiways sells tickets from its site taking travelers to stopovers, with Lufthansa and other Star Alliance carriers, in Munich, Zurich, Frankfurt, and Brussels. Obviously, the appeal of the direct flight greatly changes the interest for travelers to fly with Thai, compared to stopovers with other carriers.
It will be interesting to see which plane the Kingdom's national airline decides to fly with from Thailand to Italy.
After retiring the A380 and B747 fleet. Thai now flies A350/900s and 777/300s to Europe, some of which also have the new first-class cabin installed.
Also in Thai's plans is the reopening of the connection to Rome, although here plans are yet to be finalized and the reopening of the connection will not take place before the 2024/25 winter season.
The sale of ITA Airways to Lufthansa could also bring, given Thai's membership in Star Alliance, a benefit for Italian travelers who could see a codeshare between the two airlines, as well as the possibility for Volare members to accumulate qualifying and non-qualifying points.
