The 2023 edition of ITB closes in Berlin today, and there was plenty of news coming out of Europe's largest travel and tourism event. Qatar, the best airline in the world, took center stage with the announcement of the reopening of 11 routes and increased frequencies to more than 40 destinations worldwide.
His Excellency Akbar Al Baker, unveiled new destinations and announced the resumption of flights and frequency increases at a press conference held on the first day of the event. Highlighting the success of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, Qatar Airways revealed its new sports sponsorship portfolio as well as a multitude of other projects and partnerships planned for the year 2023, continuing on the path of bringing people together while promoting industrial tourism in the State of Qatar. The press conference was also attended by His Excellency, Sheikh Abdulla Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al-Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Germany.
At the press conference, H.E. Mr. Al Baker announced more than seven new destinations planned for launch in 2023, including Chittagong, Juba, Kinshasa, Lyon, Medan, Toulouse, and Trebizond. Qatar Airways also resumes flights to 11 destinations: Beijing, Birmingham, Buenos Aires, Casablanca, Davao, Marrakesh, Nice, Osaka, Phnom Penh, Ras Al-Khaimah and Tokyo Haneda. Multiple destinations also saw planned increases in frequency by the year 2023.
Three flights a day from Malpensa to Doha
For Italian travelers, the main news will be increased frequencies from Milan Malpensa to Doha, with the possibility of continuing to the entire network by stopping over at the best airport in the world. An airport that was recently expanded with a new area opened just ahead of the recent World Cup.
