Want a free upgrade? Try to catch me, if you catch me at the airport I'll give you my seat on board

The summer that is about to begin will be about the return of travel to 100%, without restrictions or buffers. It will be like the world before.

As can be seen on this site, on the YT channel and on all the social networks where we are present I travel quite a bit. Second App In the air, as of today, April 15, 2023, are at 97,267km flown aboard 37 flights for a total of 143 hours spent in the air since January 1.

Increasingly, I meet readers and followers around Italian airports and not only that.In this photo I am with three Italian guys who were on the same flight as me to Jeddah Last summer when I flew Saudia. Here we took a selfie inside Jeddah's beautiful AlFursan lounge.

So I decided to copy the idea that about 10 years or so had been launched by an American travel blogger (but I could be wrong). The game is super simple: if we catch each other at the airport I'll let you have my seat on board (if it's better than yours of course) and we'll swap.

How this challenge works

This above is the Map of my planned trips from now until the end of 2023. Obviously only the routes that I will be doing in business class or higher flying, for example, aboard ANA, Qatar, La Compagnie, ITA, Cathay Pacific, Malaysian, Etihad, Emirates, Air France, KLM are marked.

Sure, you have to be lucky, but the reward could be a QSuite seat, the world's best business class or the world's most expensive first class seat. The rules are simply this:

1. Sign up for treasure hunt simply by signing up for our YT channel and following our IG profile
2. No matter where I am, just find me before I get to the gate
3. You must be in possession of a ticket on my own flight, on the same day/time
4. You will have to agree to end up on my YT channel. and on this site to tell how you traveled because of your free upgrade

It is not a sweepstakes

For the avoidance of doubt: this is not a sweepstakes, but a scavenger hunt or bum hunt at the airport. If you find me and tell me "Hey bum, I want your place." And we're on the same flight you'll have my seat and I'll sit in yours, the whole flight. There is no notary, but in the age of social media being debunked is very easy.

It doesn't end there: if you subscribe to our newsletter. every Saturday morning you will receive an email telling you which airport I will be spending the following week.

Not all flights participate in this competition

Before having discussions I specify from the outset that some flights are not participating in this scavenger hunt. To find out if that specific flight will not be up for grabs just check if I have shared my location on social channels and/or entered that airport in the weekly newsletter.

The reasons could be different: if I am a guest of an airline I cannot do the swap, the same applies in case I am traveling with my daughter or wife, I do not wish you to have them next to me during a 10-hour flight.

Despite this there will be Starting in May until the end of the year. about 30 flights available with departures from Italian airports and beyond, so the hunt is on all over the world.

Consolation prize

I admit that the chances are remote, but the chances are probably higher than winning the Superenalotto. I also decided to raffle off endless consolation prizes. If you catch me at the check-in counter or duty free, but we're not on the same flight, I'll take you to the lounge and you can schmooze at my expense while waiting for your flight.

PS Technically, companies prohibit changing seats on board, or rather some companies do. There are also carriers like Southwest that do not assign seats and let passengers sit wherever they want. The reasons for this prohibition are various: from covid (contact tracking!!!) to security. That said, no one checks if you are not seated in your seat (unless there is someone claiming that seat)
