This hotel is the latest addition to the Hilton family in Bangkok, is the second Doubletree family property in BKK and it was also One of the two Hilton hotels I missed visiting in the city, so having to do a 10-hour overnight stop over in Thailand's capital city, I decided to try it out.
Reservation
In this article:
Prices in Bangkok are rising by the week, when I think of how much we spent in October 2021 and subsequent visits compared to today other than inflation. However, it is logical, October 2021 you had to love this land and put yourself on the sandbox to come here, now instead you take the plane and go.
I decided to book cash and not use points because the number of Hilton Honors points required was too high compared to the cost of the room, not to mention that I was also able to take advantage of the promo that gave away double points.
As always. to get the status benefits and accumulate all the points you must always book through the Hilton website or app.
Location
The hotel is located just across the street from the JW Marriott, in A side street of Bangkok's busiest street., the one where the BTS, the surface subway, runs, a short distance from "iconic" places like Nana Plaza and the city's major shopping centers.
Check-in
I arrived around 10 p.m. from the airport, and by 6 a.m. I had to be at the airport again, I could have slept in hotels closer to the airport, but I wanted to at least take a walk and breathe in the smells of the Thai capital.
Very fast check-in practices and in-suite upgrades. I could say wasted upgrades, but since they are not counted it is something that is still welcome and is related to status in the Hilton Honors program. Status you get for free simply by having the right credit card in your wallet, in this case the Amex Platinum, and benefits include the Free breakfast in all hotels.
The room
My room was on the 25th and last floor of the hotel.. With a view of the Bangkok skyline.
From my window you could clearly see the skyscraper that houses the Conrad, another Hilton family hotel.
The suite consists of a small living room, with a sofa, coffee table and mega TV screen. All with a window with a city view.
There is also a bar area. With mini-bar, coffee machine and some snacks for a fee.
The room has a beautiful king bed, and as is always the case in Asia and rarely in the rest of the world, it is pulled to perfection, like, not even a wrinkle on the bedspread.
Second mega smart TV and especially the right switches in the right place, with even a "master" button that turns everything off. If there's one thing I can't stand when I go to a hotel, it's having to hunt for the switch to turn off the last light bulb, and I often find myself pulling the plug in frustration.
There is then a walk-in closet leading to the bathroom.
There is also room for some sort of artwork, or something that should look like it.
The bathroom is large, with shower and tub. There is all the space you need and zero plastic, good thing.
Sevizi
On the seventh floor of the hotel is the gym, open H24, all the equipment is made in Italy.
The pool open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
A small business center open from 10 am to 8 pm.
Food & Beverage
As mentioned, I arrived late with the restaurant already closed, and left early with the restaurant still closed. In fact, breakfast is served starting at 6:30 a.m.
I have no doubt in thinking that it will be on the level of the other Hilton hotels in the area, hard to be disappointed in this part of the world by a breakfast.
In conclusion
Although he is fond of the Doublertree Sukhumvit I have to say. this is better, maybe only the pool is inferior, but for everything else it is better and considering that this one always costs less than the other DT I don't see why not to choose it.
It is also closer to the BTS and is more toward the center, if you want to call the Siam Pargon area that. For those seeking the excesses of the Thai capital's nightlife, we are in Soi 2 within walking distance of Nana Plaza and the more sinful Soi, it is however perfect for families because of the presence of the swimming pool, and the proximity to one of the highway exits that is synonymous with speed of travel In the chaotic traffic life of Bangkok.
