I just got an email from Qatar that made me really happy, it was not the usual spam, but an important communication namely the debut of Jetblue among the bookable partners with Avios points.
In this article:
An unexpected partnership
I have to admit I wouldn't have never thought to see this news. Sure Jetblue has ended its partnership with Emirates, but the most innovative and sexy airline on the American scene offers routes in competition with British Airways, of which Qatar is a partner, and it is not a member of the oneWorld alliance so there was no reason to foresee this move.
As of a few hours ago, JetBlue has been included in Qatar's list of partner carriers, so it is possible to book an award ticket to fly aboard narrow-body aircraft from Europe (London, Paris and just a little longer Amsterdam) to the U.S., or in the U.S. to all of the company's routes with main hub at T5 at JFK.
A ticket in Mint class, aka business from Paris to New York costs 62k Avios plus taxes, a really interesting figure, partly because BA on the LHR/JFK route charges a really crazy amount of taxes and surcharges, and being able to book Jetblue, with BA's avios is really a good trick.
In conclusion
The agreement between Qatar and Jetblue is a real bombshell, a most interesting partnership, now it would only take the announcement of Jetblue flying over Milan to make it perfect.
