Israel, located in the Middle East along the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, is a country of great historical, cultural and religious significance. With an area of about 22,145 square kilometers, it borders Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt and overlooks the Mediterranean Sea.
The capital of Israel is Jerusalem, a holy city for the three major monotheistic religions-Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
