Announced in 2018, theArctic Bath immediately caught the attention of tourists. Now it has definitely become part of the many tours that are organized to admire the wonders of the area. It is a true architectural that floats on the Lule River at Lapland Swedish for a total of 12 cabins. Only six cabins are on land, while the others float in the water, making reservations difficult.

Arctic Bath, sleeping floating on the river
A stay at the exclusive hotel costs about 750 euros per person, per night. In addition to the unforgettable views of the aurora borealis, Arctic Bath places emphasis on its wellness facilities, which include three different saunas, a hot tub, and of course a cold Arctic Bath. The treat, of course, is the location of the facility, which allows guests to stay on the river during the summer while freezing in the ice throughout the winter.
Located near the village of Harads, Arctic Bath consists of two structures. One, designed to resemble a tangle of logs, is circular and houses all the hotel's wellness services. Next to it are six floating suites in the water and six on land. The latter each sleep five, while the floating suites, connected to the mainland by narrow bridge-like paths, are for two people and look like small huts that float individually.
Respect for ecological values and land development
Behind Arctic Bath, there is the same team that created the Treehotel, a structure composed of tree rooms designed in harmony with nature and respecting ecological values. They all rise in the middle of the boreal forest, which the owners thus wanted to enhance without cutting down trees and damaging one of the earth's green lungs. The inspiration for the Arctic Bath, on the other hand, comes from driftwood in the area and a wedge-shaped tool called a flottningshake, which loggers commonly use to dislodge a timber jam. Of course, the team consisting of architects Bertil Harström and Johan Kaupp also thought about respecting ecological values here.
The entire property was built using local materials with "minimal or no" environmental impact, such as pine wood and dark oak. Environmentally friendly paints and oils were then used. Each of the earth huts is elevated on poles to avoid disturbing the thriving plant and animal ecosystems below. Finally, the entire property uses green electricity and a closed water and waste system that ensures minimal impact on the surrounding environment.
This is not the first case of an eccentric and eye-catching structure built in Lapland. Just a few years ago, Finland saw the birth of the a Game of Thrones-themed hotel made entirely of snow and ice. The structure was designed by professional ice sculptors from Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Finland. It took only five weeks to turn the project into reality. The hotel has 16 suites, each with its own unique sculptures made in the ice walls.
