Dubai was the world's top-rated destination in the Travellers' Choice Awards 2022 Tripadvisor.

Popular all along, Dubai has risen in Tripadvisor's Travellers' Choice Awards rankings in recent years. Now, in 2022, it has taken the crown as the most popular destination on the planet.

But why is it the No. 1 destination in the world? "Dubai is an ultramodern city, which really has it all: golden beaches, top-notch restaurants and beautiful hotels," Justin Reid, Tripadvisor's director of media, destinations and travel, explained to CNN. "Since the Travellers' Choice Awards are based on reviews of places to go, accommodations, and things to do, to have ranked as the world's best destination means it has achieved reviews stellar by travelers in all its sectors."
Despite the effects of the pandemic, Dubai continued to attract tourists from near and far over the past year. And it stood out as the favorite place to go for people who needed a little distraction. Italy, however, wins in food lovers' favorite destinations: Rome Is at the top of the list.
