Ita Airways, farewell to lounge at JFK in its place opens Turkish Airlines

It would perhaps be more accurate to say "goodbye Alitalia.", since the lounge at Terminal 1 of the JFK New York was never reopened by ITA Airways, and passengers traveling with the new Italian flag carrier, since connections to the Big Apple resumed, have been asked to use the Air France lounge.

Nice that on the sign at the door of the French carrier's lounge. there is still the symbol of Alitalia and no trace of ITA Airways in the list of Sky Team companies.

At an airport like JFK, slots are worth their weight in gold and sqm even more, which is why the Port Authority that runs the airport wasted no time in finding a new tenant for the lounge that for years was Casa Alitalia. Alitalia's only official lounge outside Italian borders.

ITA Airways is waiting to know its future: with MSC/Lufthansa or with Delta/Air France. If it remains at T1, it will probably also be housed in the future in one of the two lounges that these carriers have in this terminal.

It is hard to think of a comeback on its own partly because there are few spaces available and they cost so much, which is evidenced by the fact that Turkish Airlines has not had a lounge for years and has now taken advantage of the Italian cancellation to open its own lounge.
