Interesting campaign of status match launched by the Finnair Plus loyalty program, or the frequent flyer of the Finnish company of the same name. Original how the carrier indicates who are the potential customers affected by this offer: not with the name of the program, but with its nationality.
Frequent flyer programs must be based in Sweden, France or Germany and be part of a global airline alliance.
In this article:
A turn of phrase to indicate that holders of a level in Miles&More, FlyingBlue and Eurobonus, i.e., two Star Alliance programs and one Sky Team, can apply for match status.
Because it is also interesting for us Italians
There is no Millemiglia in the list, let alone Volare, but many members of the Alitalia loyalty program were able to Gaining status with Miles&More, right through a status match campaign of the German carrier.
Similarly, it is possible for all status holders in the Air France KLM loyalty program to have the level in competitor Oneworld.
The rules of bidding
The challenge is valid only until July 7 and will allow one to obtain the Finnair Plus Silver or Gold level. Unfortunately, therefore, no chance to aim for the two higher levels such as Platinum and Lumo.
- Be enrolled in the program. If you are not yet a member, sign up for Finnair Plus.
- Book a direct flight from Arlanda to New York or Los Angeles operated by Finnair. All it takes is one leg, so even a one-way ticket.
- Email to [email protected] including:
email subject: status correspondence
first and last name
contact information: email and phone number
a photograph of your valid frequent flyer card as an attachment
your Finnair Plus membership number
booking reference number that includes an eligible Finnair flight
As you can see the challenge in this case is to book a long-haul flight from Stockholm to the United States, in any class of travel. Finnair has recently set its sights on long-haul flights not only from Helsinki but also from the Swedish capital. The destinations are to Asia and precisely the United States.
With this offer, it is obvious that the target audience are passengers living in Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands and surrounding areas who may be interested in flying via Stockholm instead of the other hubs such as Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam and the like.
The Finnair Plus Program
Probably the Finnish carrier's loyalty program is one of the best in Europe. With benefits such as lounge access, priority gateways, additional baggage free internet on board flights, discounts and promotions.
Most interesting, however, are the upgrades in business. Gold level holders each year receive 4 vouchers to upgrade to business class on short/medium-haul routes. Platinum level holders also receive 2 more vouchers to be used for as many intercontinental segments also in business class. If desired, the 4 upgrades for routes on European flights can be converted into a voucher for intercontinental routes.
In conclusion
It is not the easiest challenge among all status matches seen lately, and it is very similar to those made in the past by Virgin Atlantic, however, it gives a status in the Oneworld alliance for more than 12 months. If you plan to fly to the U.S., it could pay off from the investment.
