Do you have status in the British Airways Executive Club? Here's how to get a membership card and baggage tag

Covid has digitized the world of frequent flyers; virtually all carriers have chosen to do away with physical loyalty program cards by switching to digital ones, which can be downloaded into cell phone wallets.

Less paper, less plastic, and less pollution to send/deliver the envelope to the customer's home. That of digital cards is a choice motivated by reducing pollution, at least according to what Singapore Airlines says and is not the only one.  To date, they are the very few carriers that continue to send cards to customers' homes.

For example, ITA Airways decided, with the birth of the Flying program, to reward with physical membership only those who reach the top levels, That is, the Executive and Executive forever. Among European carriers, the luggage card and tags are now a thing of the past at Air France, Klm, Iberia, all Lufthansa group airlines, and even British Airways.

I think the pollution excuse is just a marketing strategy, In the end, the motivation is merely an economic issue. It saves on the cards, the letter, the envelope and the postage. Personally, I even do without the card, but the luggage tag is very convenient

How I requested the cards from British Airways.

Wandering around in my personal section on BA's website, I scouted out the possibility of requesting a copy of the card and luggage tags. This, in my opinion, should be the right middle ground. I don't automatically send anything to anyone anymore, but if you want to ask me for them and I'll send them to you.

This is how it works with BA. You make a request from the site in the Executive Club Products section. Here you can request various information related to your status. You can request a maximum of 3 shipments each year.

I made my request on August 27, and yesterday, September 7, I received the envelope: all very nice and elegant in presentation.

In conclusion

I am a serial accumulator of travel-related items, luggage cards and tags are one of the things I collect And that I like to keep as a memory.
