American Express operates two lounges in Australia, at Sydney and Melbourne airports. These two lounges, until now, were simply called American Express. In Sydney I spent this summer in one of the stops on my world tour. The lounge is nice, but it definitely doesn't live up to the Centurion brand.
In this article:
Currently, both lounges are closed for about ten days and, as posted on several Australian blogs, will reopen in early December under the Centurion sign. Hard to think of a total restyling of the halls, they will be closed less than two weeks, it is more likely that it will just be a "putty and paint" operation with the installation of the new signs as well.
Compared with the Centurion product, particularly the latest open lounges at London Heathrow or to the T4 at JFK in New York City, this lounge Is inferior, even though it has all the classic features of Amex-made lounges: showers, an express kitchen, an operating bar at 100%. With this make-up, it is likely that Amex simply wants to bring some order to the various brands it has around the world when it comes to lounges.
In addition to Centurion Lounges, in fact, there are Escape Lounges and Global lounges Collection, sometimes even within the same airport there are multiple Lounges available to Platinum cardholder customers and other credit cards issued by Amex.
