If after reading my review of the new Hilton resort in the Maldives did you feel like staying using points by resetting your spending or spending less than what you would spend using your credit card, you should know that The promotion linked to the Hilton honors program is back, giving away A bonus of 100% if you buy points from the hotel chain's loyalty program.
In this article:
It is always possible for a member of a loyalty program to buy points, but it is (almost) never convenient. Cyclically, however, airlines and hotel chains launch promotions that allow you to get Strong bonuses in terms of price discount or extra points. In this case, then, the argument changes and, if you have a specific goal in mind, it can be an ideal time to detach the prize.
The new Hilton Honors promotion
Through Tuesday, March 7, 2023, Hilton Honors offers a bonus on points purchased. As is always the case, not all users will necessarily see the same bonus, the maximum level that can be achieved is 100% which is activated when you purchase at least 5,000 points in a transaction.
How much does it cost to purchase Hilton Honors points?
Hilton Honors normally charges one cent for each point purchased, including all taxes and fees. This is before any discounts or bonuses. If you are eligible for the 100% bonus, you can buy a maximum of 160,000 points at a cost of 800$.
Normally, when Hilton Honors offers a promotion on points purchased, it is either a bonus of 100% or a discount of 50%, so this offer is in line with the program's best offers.
Hilton Honors allows you to purchase up to 80,000 points per account per calendar year, before any bonuses. So, with a bonus of 100%, you can get up to a maximum of 160k points.
The great thing, however, is that Hilton allows multiple accounts to be merged without any limits. So, potentially, you could buy points on multiple accounts and make a reservation with all the points contained within this family account. By doing so you can effectively bypass the 80k point limit.
Buying to book, when it pays off
There is potentially tremendous value to be gained by purchasing Hilton Honors points. Hilton Honors sells points at a reasonable cost. There are hundreds of hotels around the world that can be booked using points. Add to that the Gold status that gives away breakfast, and you have all the ingredients for a great deal.
How many points are needed to book an award night
The cost of award nights ranges from a minimum of 5,000 points per night to a maximum of 120k, although there is one hotel the Waldorf Astoria Maldives where an award night (if found) costs 150k points per night.
For example, you can sleep in Milan from 15k points per night. My stay at the new Hilton Amingiri resort cost me 88k points per night, considering that the fifth was free.
An example of how to use points
We gave lots of examples and one of our readers took advantage of this opportunity for a dream reservation in one of the most beautiful and expensive facilities in the world. But the advantage can also be translated to an on-the-road tour of Europe. By buying the maximum provided by this promo, you could use the points for a vacation that, after a night at the Hilton Milan, takes us to stay at one of the world's most beautiful cities like Prague. From here we can continue towards Warsaw and arrive then to Riga, the capital of Latvia.
The way back could pass through Amsterdam or for Trieste, always and only using the points to pay for the stay.
