ITA Airways' loyalty program. Volare celebrates its first year of existence.
In this article:
Who expected as a birthday present, the possibility of booking an award ticket using points will be disappointed and will have to settle for double points on all flights made during the month of March.
Promotion
Unlike previous similar promotions that required you to also buy your ticket in a certain period, this one does not have that clause, so this opens it up to everyone who makes at least one flight between March 1 and (presumably) March 31.
I am presumably writing because on the site, as you can see from the screenshot there is a date in the past as the end date of the promotion: 31/1/23. (The date was later corrected a couple of hours later ed.)
To get the double points, the flights must be sold by ITA and operated by ITA, translated it means that if the ticket involves flying routes with operators other than the Italian company you will not accumulate double points with those routes, unnecessary clarification because in this case you do not even accumulate base points, another oddity of the Flying program.
Last but not least, double points will be qualifying, thus useful for renewal/achievement of status in 2024.
Welcome bonus to new members as well
Alternative to introducing a friend promotion comes a new promotion to convince new users to join ITA Airways' loyalty program.
All enrollees between Feb. 24 and March 31 will earn 2,000 points, qualifying and non-qualifying, upon completion of enrollment. Evident is Volare's goal of crossing the one million member mark, which by now should be within reach.
In conclusion
Waiting to officially enter the Guinness Book of Records. as the only Frequent Flyer Program in the world that does not allow its members to book an award ticket, but simply use points in cash and Miles mode, Volare continues to let its members accumulate points in a very generous way.
Flying continues to be a lame duck, has no partners other than Korean Air, does not allow you to accumulate points when flying Skyteam, at Linate Skyteam passengers are still being bounced at the door when flying Air France and KLM, same thing happens in lounges halfway around the world to those who have status with ITA and fly Skyteam.
Let's just hope that, sooner or later, flying points will start to be worth something otherwise for frequent Italian travelers will be the de profundis on trust to a loyalty program made in ITAly.
