ITA Airways' fleet is small, also partly inherited from Alitalia, although by the end of 2023 there will be as many as 38 new aircraft entering service this year.
In this article:
To date, however, there are several liveries with which the planes of Italy's national airline fly. Unfortunately, I say this as a nostalgic person, the livery I was most fond of, namely the legendary AirOne, has left us, which after years of honored service has been cancelled to make way for the official uniform, the blue one with ITA lettering and the tricolor on the tail.
Born in 2021

The three liveries. The new, the old, the celebratory
Only one plane has this livery, and it is the one designed at ITA's debut on October 15, 2021. On the occasion of its birth from the ashes of Alitalia, an Airbus A320 had been painted white and varnished with the lettering in block letters on both sides of the plane.
Azure ITA
From January 2022, they then began fleet restyling, only on the exterior, nothing inside other than the removal of the Alitalia banners. This is the official uniform, the one wanted to remember the uniform of athletes who wrote pages of history with the Italian national team. From soccer to Olympic sports. These planes are those
Born to be sustainable
This livery has two declinations. The original one on the A350, which arrived in the fleet summer 2022, an intended message for Bring out the concept of a new, sustainable fleet, on the Italian company's new flagship. It's not obvious, but an airplane painted white weighs less than an airplane painted blue, so it also consumes less power than airplanes when it flies around the world, and of course, it also costs less to paint.
Also the fleet of A220s that entered service in autumn 2022. are painted white with the same lettering, a reminder that this model is the most modern and environmentally sustainable on the market today.
FVG
This is ITA Airway's first special liverys. Of course it is not as beautiful as the historical Baci Perugina on the 747 Alitalia, but I personally find it the absolute most beautiful of the active ones right now. I absolutely love the white tail with the filigree and the tricolor, and I equally like the blue of the front, which is different from the rest of the fleet.
The old Alitalia
At a superficial glance, they might look identical, but there are still at least two different Alitalia liveries in operation.
There is the historical one, with the tail rudder with the tricolor and the white plane, and the one wanted by Etihad, with the cream-colored fuselage, some spirals on the tail, and the historical tricolor Az more vivid than the historical one.
In conclusion
With Alitalia's destined (perhaps) to disappear altogether, unless Lufthansa decides on a relaunch of the brand, which, it should be remembered, is owned by ITA Airways. We have already seen that the first A330/900neo to enter the fleet will have the official uniform. We will see if there will be other agreements such as with the FVG Region and if there will be other marketing initiatives with other parties to enrich the collection of ITA Airways "stickers."
