Unfortunately, it seems to be still early for space tourism dreamed up by Elon Musk and co. While waiting for us to go up there, space is coming to our planet with the Moon Resort. No war of the worlds or invasion of the body snatchers, fear not. We are "just" talking about a hotel.
In this article:
In fact, soon you will be able to travel to the moon for your vacation without leaving the earth's surface, thanks to the Moon Resort, a futuristic hotel that intends to replicate our dear satellite, and which will obviously be hosted on the Las Vegas Strip, already home to some of the world's most unique and imaginative hotels.
The numbers at the Moon Resort in Las Vegas
The project is signed by the Canadian company Moon World Resort Inc., which plans to allocate 5 billion for the construction of a hotel designed to be a 1/75,000-scale replica of the Moon. The spherical building will be 224 meters high and 198 meters wide, covering an area of 511,000 square meters.
When it is finished, the hotel will come to accommodate 4,000 guest rooms and luxury suites, as well as other services and amenities, clearly always extra-large: a 7,000-square-meter spa, a 4,600-square-meter bar and dining area, and a 7,000-square-meter shopping area.
A kind of miniature city, immersed in a futuristic design which will certainly not stand out among the other celebrated themed hotels arranged along Nevada's most famous thoroughfare. Inside the Moon Resort, guests will also enjoy a 2,500-seat theater and an event hall that can accommodate as many as twice as many people. Plus a planetarium, a 10,000-person concert arena, a casino and a nightclub topped by a replica of a flying saucer.
The Moon on Earth
But said so, the Moon Resort in Las Vegas seems to be more like a huge luxury hotel than anything else.or bizarre and original style. Making the experience of staying there truly unique and "spacey" will be the presence of a lunar colony inside the hotel.
In fact, the top of the sphere will house a reproduction of the colonies that NASA, ESA and other space agencies are studying for future colonization of the Moon. To access this exclusive area, it will not be enough to stay in the hotel, but you will have to pay an extra $500 to explore the colony which faithfully reproduces the lunar surface in a space of 10 acres (40,500 square meters).
More of an amusement park experience than a hotel experience, but how to resist the idea of the Moon Resort? By paying for a ticket, visitors will be able to ride on a "lunar shuttle" traversing the outer surface of the sphere until they reach the colony. Here they can move throughout the area, jumping between craters aboard a "moon buggy."
"People want something unique, something 'Wow.' - he told the New York Post Michael Henderson, co-founder of Moon World Resort Inc. who also emphasized the relative affordability of the offerings - To go into space you need to spend $200,000 or $250,000, an unaffordable price for most people. With us, for only $500 you can walk on an authentic lunar surface!"
Construction work on the Moon Resort in Las Vegas should last four years, so we can expect to see it open by 2025. But Moon World Resort Inc plans to build three more "sister" hotels around the world, specifically in Spain, the Middle East and China.
