London Heathrow's Terminal 2 is the home of Star Alliance airlines, with some exceptions since ITA Airways and Aer Lingus flights and other airlines also depart from here.
In this article:
You can tell by the check-in desks and lounges present that there are 6. Three are in the main facility and they are: the Lufthansa lounge, the Aer Lingus lounge, and the Premium Plaza, which belongs to American Express' Global collection and serves as a "buffer" for the airlines that do not have the opportunity to take advantage of the other two.
In Block B, separated from the main body by an underground passageway, there are three other lounges-Singapore, Air Canada, and United Airlines. If you have enough time to go/come back, the one in Singapore. Should be definitely better.
Location
This hall Is located on the second floor on the opposite side of the security control area, you have to go down to the main floor and then up again by escalator.
The waiting room entrances of the German carrier and the Irish carrier are next to each other.
Access
In order to enter this lounge you must travel at least in business class with Lufthansa or with a Star Alliance carrier, you can also access If you have senator status or an equivalent level than in partner companies.
There is a second lounge inside the lounge and it is exclusively for Gold Star Alliance or Lufthansa Senator card holders.
The lounge
What I like about Lufthansa lounges is that they are all similar like style and decor and this one doesn't break the tradition. I really like the colors of the furniture and the design of the ceiling, they make the space very relaxing and make everything seem much bigger.
There are no major differences between the business lounge and the Senator lounge. Access to the second one is regulated by a door; those who receive the QR at the entrance of the lounge may want to enter the Seantor.
It's definitely big, Heathrow being an airport where LH flies over 15 flights a day it is not hard to understand the motivation. In addition, this lounge also covers all the needs of the other SA carriers that depart from this terminal, for example TAP, Turkish and SAS.
I also like the fact that although it is a huge open space, LH has managed with decor and colors to divide the zones, simple but effective.
One could say to each his session. From armchairs to sofas, tables to stools, you are spoiled for choice.
Services
It does not offer much, but it is also true that the lounges in Frankfurt or Zurich are not much richer.
There is a room designed for those who want to work comfortably at a desk, with power outlets and printing facilities. There are showers and then nothing else.
Food & Beverage
There is no difference between the business lounge and the Senator area. The breakfast menu is identical: the classic savory breakfast.
Although it is early in the morning, in the lounges you can drink anything at any time of the day and of the night. There are always beer tappers in the LH lounges and a decent selection of wines and super spirits. Of course, there is no bar served as in Frankfurt, but there is enough choice to survive to your destination without dying of thirst.
In conclusion
It is easy to reach, it is functional, and the buffet is more than sufficient. Certainly better than what, for example, Air France and ITA Airways offer premium passengers at home airports, whereas here we are in London not Frankfurt.
Pro
- Bright
- Great
- Easy to reach
Against
- The Senator could offer something better
