Last November 7, the Mexican flag carrier announced. the imminent opening of the direct connection between Rome and Mexico City. Given the excellent response from the Italian market, the airline has thus decided to further increase frequencies between June 16 and August 31.
One flight a day all summer long
In this article:
During this period, flights will increase from five weekly frequencies to one daily flight. This decision is part of the Mexican airline's commitment to the Italian market and underscores its determined strategy to offer better connections from all major Italian airports to Mexico.
With this increase in flights, Aeromexico will operate 56 weekly flights between Europe and Mexico during summer 2023.
Mexico's Ambassador to Italy, Carlos García de Alba, says that "the good news continues. Being able to finally have a direct Rome-Mexico City flight was a great success, but now knowing that frequencies will increase to a daily flight in June-August 2023 is very significant. The potential of bilateral tourist flows is yet to be developed. For our part, we want more visitors from Italy, and this will allow us to promote itineraries that will be feasible precisely because of this new flight, which will not only increase economic activity but also allow Italian travelers to learn more about Mexico's rich culture and traditions. A more effective and efficient air transportation will foster an early development of a network that will intensify trade, cultural and cooperative exchanges between Mexico and Italy. By ensuring the mobility of people and companies, new dynamics of growth and economic and social development can be triggered."
Aboard the 787/9
The route will be operated with Dreamliners, namely the 787/9s that are the workhorse of the Skyteam carrier's long-haul fleet. The aircraft layout is with the business class cabin with a 1-2-1 configuration. The seat used by the Mexican airline Is the same one that ITA Airways uses aboard its new A350s, so a real guarantee. My advice if you are traveling in business is to book in the second small cabin where there are only 6 seats, definitely quieter and isolated from the other 30 business class places.
I have flown Aeromexico a couple of times in the past year and I must say that I have been amazed by the quality of the seat and the quality of the in-flight entertainment system. Less satisfied, however, with the service both on the ground and on board the AM fleet.
The economy cabin is outfitted with the classic 3-3-3 configuration for a total of 238 seats.
In conclusion
As well as ITA Airways flights to Argentina and Brazil travel at full capacity also Aeromexico and Aerolinas Argentinas have increased flight frequencies to Italy, taking advantage of ITA's inability, as things stand, to increase frequencies even though next summer should bring the second connection to Brazil with destination Rio de Janeiro.
