Hilton Honors, statuses updated: watch out for rollover nights

Yesterday, Hilton's app and website were finally updated with the new cards and elite statuses valid until 2024. As is well known at the end of the year Hilton Honors user profiles go into hibernation for about two weeks. This is definitely a strange thing since it takes almost all other programs no more than 24 hours to do the update.

The new statuses

Going to the app takes you back to the user profile where advances in level renewal are shown and any rollover nights which were carried over from 2022 to the current year. Since January 1, the race to renew the level has restarted, the hunt for milestone bonuses and to the accumulation of qualifying points.

As we had a chance to write from this year, the requirements to renew or obtain status have been restored to pre-pandemic levels this means that unless you are a holder of American Express Platinum you will have to accumulate 40 nights for the Gold level, the one that gives away breakfast, and 60 nights for the Diamond.

Check rollover nights

One of the best features of the Hilton Honors program are the qualifying rollover nights, i.e. qualifying nights that accumulate beyond those needed to achieve/renew status are moved into the next year's collection. For example, if you stay 49 nights, you will get the Gold card and the extra 9 nights are shifted to the following year to more easily achieve renewal.

There is a maximum limit to 60 nights year that can be carried over time, which is enough to start the year directly diamond.

Today checking my account I found only 8 nights uploaded, while last year's I stayed a total of 90 nights in Hilton hotels, making many bonus nights thanks to theoffer of the qualifying double nights. This means that I should have been charged 48 qualifying nights, since 42 nights were required in 2022 to get the Diamond. The same problem has been reported by many other users, let's see how Hilton will react

In conclusion

After two weeks of hibernation, Hilton's app shows new statuses, accumulated points, and rollover nights in 2023.
